بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
37:1وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفًّا
37:1I CALL TO witness those who stand arrayed in rows, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:2فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًا
37:2And those who restrain by reprimanding, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:3فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا
37:3And those who recite the Reminder, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:4إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌ
37:4Verily your God is One, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:5رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ
37:5The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, and the Lord of the Easts. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:6إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ
37:6He decked the nearest heavens with ornaments of stars, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:7وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ
37:7Protecting them against every wayward devil, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:8لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ
37:8So that they are not able to listen to the angels of higher (echelons), and are pelted from all sides - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:9دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ
37:9And kept far away. There is perpetual punishment for them, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:10إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ
37:10Except those who eavesdrop and are pursued by a shooting flame. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:11فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ
37:11So ask them if they are more difficult to create, or the rest We have created? Indeed (man) We created from fermented clay. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:12بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ
37:12Yet while you are filled with wonder, they just scoff; - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:13وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ
37:13And when they are warned they pay no heed. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:14وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ
37:14When they see a sign, they laugh at it, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:15وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ
37:15And say: "This is only magic. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:16أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
37:16When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, how can we be raised again, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:17أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
37:17And our fathers too?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:18قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ
37:18You say: "Yes; and you will be lowly made." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:19فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
37:19There will only be a single jerk, and they will gape, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:20وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
37:20And say: "Ah woe! This is the Day of Reckoning." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:21هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
37:21"(Yes,) this is the Day of Judgement you had called a lie." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:22۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ
37:22Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:23مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:23Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:24وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ
37:24And detain them, for they will be questioned." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:25مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ
37:25"What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:26بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ
37:26They will submit to questioning then, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:27وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
37:27And some of them will confront the others, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:28قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
37:28Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:29قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ
37:29They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:30وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَـٰغِينَ
37:30We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:31فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ
37:31The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:32فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِينَ
37:32For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:33فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ
37:33So, they will become partners in punishment. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:34إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
37:34That is how We deal with sinners. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:35إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
37:35They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:36وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍۭ
37:36And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:37بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:37Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:38إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ
37:38You will indeed taste a painful punishment, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:39وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
37:39And be rewarded but only for what you had done, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:40إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:40Except the chosen creatures of God, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:41أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
37:41Whose provision is predetermined -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:42فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ
37:42Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:43فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
37:43In gardens of delight, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:44عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
37:44(Sitting) on couches, face to face, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:45يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ
37:45With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:46بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ
37:46Clear, delicious to drink, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:47لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ
37:47Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:48وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌ
37:48And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:49كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
37:49Like sheltered eggs in a nest. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:50فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
37:50Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:51قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌ
37:51Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:52يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ
37:52Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:53أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ
37:53(Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:54قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ
37:54He said: 'Will you look down?' - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:55فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:55He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:56قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ
37:56'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:57وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ
37:57Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:58أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ
37:58(Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:59إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
37:59Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:60إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
37:60This will indeed be great happiness. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:61لِمِثْلِ هَـٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَ
37:61For this the toilers should strive." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:62أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
37:62Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:63إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
37:63Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:64إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:64It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:65طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ
37:65Its spathes are like the prickly pear. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:66فَإِنَّهُمْ لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
37:66They will eat and fill their bellies with it, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:67ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ
37:67Washing it down with boiling water. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:68ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:68Then to Hell they will surely be returned. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:69إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ
37:69They had found their fathers astray, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:70فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ
37:70Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:71وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:71So had many an earlier people gone astray, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:72وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
37:72And We had sent admonishers to them. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:73فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
37:73Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:74إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:74Other than the chosen creatures of God. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:75وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ
37:75Noah had verily called to Us. And how gracious was He who answered (him). - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:76وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
37:76We saved him and his family from the great affliction, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:77وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ
37:77And made his progeny survive, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:78وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:78And left (his name) for posterity. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:79سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:79Peace on Noah among all men. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:80إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:80That is how We reward those who do good. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:81إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:81Surely he was among Our faithful creatures. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:82ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
37:82Afterwards We drowned the others. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:83۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ
37:83And Abraham indeed was of his inducement, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:84إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
37:84When he came to his Lord with a heart compliant, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:85إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ
37:85When he said to his father and his people: "What is this you worship? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:86أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةً دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ
37:86Why do you solicit false gods instead of God? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:87فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:87What do you imagine the Lord of the worlds to be?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:88فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ
37:88Then he looked up at the stars (they worshipped), - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:89فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌ
37:89And said: "I am sick (of what you worship)!" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:90فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ
37:90But they turned their backs on him and went away. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:91فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ
37:91Then he turned towards their gods and said: "Why do you not eat (of these offerings)? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:92مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ
37:92What is wrong with you that you do not speak?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:93فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ
37:93Then he started striking them down with his right hand. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:94فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ
37:94So the people descended upon him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:95قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ
37:95"Why do you worship these you carve yourselves," he asked, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:96وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
37:96"When God has created you and what you make?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:97قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَـٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:97"Build a pyre for him and throw him into the raging fire." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:98فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ
37:98So they contrived a plot against him, but We made them abject. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:99وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ
37:99And he said: "I am going away to my Lord who will show me the way. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:100رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
37:100(And he prayed:) "O Lord, grant me a righteous son." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:101فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِيمٍ
37:101So We gave him the good news of a clement son. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:102فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَـٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
37:102When he was old enough to go about with him, he said: "O my son, I dreamt that I was sacrificing you. Consider, what you think?" He replied: "Father, do as you are commanded. If God pleases you will find me firm." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:103فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ
37:103When they submitted to the will of God, and (Abraham) laid (his son) down prostrate on his temple, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:104وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
37:104We called out: "O Abraham, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:105قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:105You have fulfilled your dream." Thus do We reward the good. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:106إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ
37:106That was indeed a trying test. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:107وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ
37:107So We ransomed him for a great sacrifice, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:108وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:108And left (his hallowed memory) for posterity. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:109سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
37:109Peace be on Abraham. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:110كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:110That is how We reward those who do good. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:111إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:111He is truly among Our faithful creatures. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:112وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِإِسْحَـٰقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
37:112So We gave him the good news of Isaac, apostle, who is among the righteous. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:113وَبَـٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ
37:113And We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants are some who do good, but some who wrong themselves. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:114وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
37:114We were indeed gracious to Moses and Aaron, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:115وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
37:115And saved them and their people from great distress, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:116وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
37:116And helped them, so they were victorious. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:117وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ
37:117We gave them the explicit Book, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:118وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
37:118And showed them the straight path, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:119وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:119And left (their remembrance) for posterity. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:120سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
37:120Peace be on Moses and Aaron. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:121إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:121That is how We reward those who do good. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:122إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:122They are among Our faithful devotees. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:123وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:123Verily Elias is one of the apostles. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:124إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
37:124When he said to his people: "Will you not be mindful of God? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:125أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ
37:125Would you call on Baal and leave the best of creators, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:126ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:126God, your Lord, and the Lord of your fathers?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:127فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
37:127They denied him, and will surely be brought to punishment, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:128إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:128Except the chosen creatures of God. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:129وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:129And We left his (memory) for posterity. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:130سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ
37:130Peace be on Elias. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:131إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:131That is how We reward those who do good. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:132إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:132He is truly among Our faithful devotees. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:133وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:133Verily Lot was one of the apostles, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:134إِذْ نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
37:134Wherefore We saved him and his entire family - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:135إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ
37:135Except an old woman who was one of those who stayed behind. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:136ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
37:136Then We destroyed the others. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:137وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ
37:137You pass by (their habitations) in the morning - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:138وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
37:138Or at night. Then how is it you do not understand? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:139وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:139Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:140إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
37:140When he fled on the laden ship, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:141فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ
37:141And lots were cast (when a storm overtook them), he was rejected, (and thrown overboard). - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:142فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ
37:142Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:143فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ
37:143Had he not been one of those who struggled hard, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:144لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
37:144He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:145۞ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ
37:145So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:146وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ
37:146And We made a gourd tree grow over him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:147وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ
37:147We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:148فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
37:148And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:149فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ
37:149Now ask them if their Lord has daughters, and they sons? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:150أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَـٰثًا وَهُمْ شَـٰهِدُونَ
37:150Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:151أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ
37:151Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:152وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
37:152"God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed! - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:153أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ
37:153Does He prefer sons to daughters? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:154مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
37:154What ails you that you judge in such a wise? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:155أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
37:155Why do you not reflect? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:156أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌ مُّبِينٌ
37:156Or have you received some clear authority? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:157فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
37:157Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:158وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
37:158They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:159سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
37:159God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:160إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:160Except His chosen creatures who do not. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:161فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ
37:161So neither you nor those you worship - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:162مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَـٰتِنِينَ
37:162Can mislead anyone away from Him, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:163إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:163Except one who is (destined) to burn in Hell. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:164وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
37:164"There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.) - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:165وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ
37:165"And we are truly those who stand in rows, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:166وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ
37:166And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:167وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ
37:167They used to say: - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:168لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:168If we had the account of earlier people with us, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:169لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:169We would have been the chosen creatures of God." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:170فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
37:170Yet now (that it has come) they refuse to believe in it; but they will come to know soon. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:171وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:171Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:172إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ
37:172That they would be helped, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:173وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
37:173And that certainly Our armies will be victorious. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:174فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
37:174So you ignore them for a time - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:175وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
37:175And wait; they will come to know soon. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:176أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
37:176Do they want to hasten Our punishment? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:177فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
37:177When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:178وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
37:178So turn away from them for a time - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:179وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
37:179And watch; they will come to know soon. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:180سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
37:180Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:181وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:181So peace be on the messengers, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:182وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:182And all praise to God, the Lord of all the worlds. - Ahmed Ali (English)
