بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
38:1صٓ ۚ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ذِى ٱلذِّكْرِ
38:1SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:2بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى عِزَّةٍ وَشِقَاقٍ
38:2But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:3كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ فَنَادَوا۟ وَّلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصٍ
38:3How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:4وَعَجِبُوٓا۟ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٌ مِّنْهُمْ ۖ وَقَالَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا سَـٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ
38:4They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:5أَجَعَلَ ٱلْـَٔالِهَةَ إِلَـٰهًا وَٰحِدًا ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ عُجَابٌ
38:5Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:6وَٱنطَلَقَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِنْهُمْ أَنِ ٱمْشُوا۟ وَٱصْبِرُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ يُرَادُ
38:6And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:7مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِى ٱلْمِلَّةِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا ٱخْتِلَـٰقٌ
38:7We never heard of it in the former faith. It is surely a fabrication. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:8أَءُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّن ذِكْرِى ۖ بَل لَّمَّا يَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِ
38:8To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:9أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْوَهَّابِ
38:9Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:10أَمْ لَهُم مُّلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ فَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبِ
38:10Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:11جُندٌ مَّا هُنَالِكَ مَهْزُومٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ
38:11They will be one more army vanquished among the many routed hordes. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:12كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ ذُو ٱلْأَوْتَادِ
38:12Even before them the people of Noah, 'Ad, the mighty Pharoah, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:13وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ لُوطٍ وَأَصْحَـٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ
38:13And the Thamud, the people of Lot, as well as the dwellers of the Wood, had denied. These were the hordes. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:14إِن كُلٌّ إِلَّا كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ
38:14Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:15وَمَا يَنظُرُ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً مَّا لَهَا مِن فَوَاقٍ
38:15They await but a single blast which will not be repeated. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:16وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا عَجِّل لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:16Still they say: "O Lord, give us our share before the Day of Reckoning." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:17ٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُۥدَ ذَا ٱلْأَيْدِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:17Bear with patience what they say, and remember Our votary David, man of strength. He surely turned to Us in penitence. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:18إِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا ٱلْجِبَالَ مَعَهُۥ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِشْرَاقِ
38:18We subjugated the chiefs (of tribes) to struggle day and night with him, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:19وَٱلطَّيْرَ مَحْشُورَةً ۖ كُلٌّ لَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:19And the levied Tair. They were all obedient to him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:20وَشَدَدْنَا مُلْكَهُۥ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَفَصْلَ ٱلْخِطَابِ
38:20So We further strengthened his kingdom, and bestowed wisdom on him, and judgement in legal matters. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:21۞ وَهَلْ أَتَىٰكَ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَصْمِ إِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا۟ ٱلْمِحْرَابَ
38:21Have you heard of the litigants who jumped over the wall into his chamber? - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:22إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ دَاوُۥدَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ ۖ خَصْمَانِ بَغَىٰ بَعْضُنَا عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تُشْطِطْ وَٱهْدِنَآ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ
38:22When they came before David, he was frightened of them. "Do not be afraid," they said. "The two of us are disputing the wrong one has done the other. So judge between us with equity, and do not be unjust, and guide us to the right path. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:23إِنَّ هَـٰذَآ أَخِى لَهُۥ تِسْعٌ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً وَلِىَ نَعْجَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِى فِى ٱلْخِطَابِ
38:23This man here is my brother. He has ninety and nine ewes while I have only one. He demands that I should give him my ewe, and wants to get the better of me in argument." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:24قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ إِلَىٰ نِعَاجِهِۦ ۖ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلْخُلَطَآءِ لَيَبْغِى بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَقَلِيلٌ مَّا هُمْ ۗ وَظَنَّ دَاوُۥدُ أَنَّمَا فَتَنَّـٰهُ فَٱسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُۥ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ ۩
38:24(David) said: "He is unjust in demanding your ewe to add to his (many) ewes. Many partners are surely -- unjust to one another, except those who believe and do the right; but there are only a few of them." It occurred to David that he was being tried by Us, and he begged his Lord to forgive him, and fell down in homage and repented. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:25فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُۥ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ
38:25So We forgave him. He has surely a high rank with Us and an excellent place of return. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:26يَـٰدَاوُۥدُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰكَ خَلِيفَةً فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ فَيُضِلَّكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌۢ بِمَا نَسُوا۟ يَوْمَ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:26"O David, We have made you trustee on the earth. So judge between men equitably, and do not follow your lust lest it should lead you astray from the way of God. Surely for those who go astray from the way of God, is severe punishment, for having forgotten the Day of Reckoning. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:27وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَـٰطِلًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ
38:27We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all for nothing. Only those who deny imagine so. So for the unbelievers there is woe from the fire. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:28أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ كَٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ كَٱلْفُجَّارِ
38:28Should We equate those who do the right with those who spread corruption in the land? Should We make those who are morally integrated equal to those who seek disintegration? - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:29كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَـٰرَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓا۟ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
38:29We have sent down a Book to you which is blessed, so that people may apply their minds to its revelations, and the men of wisdom may reflect. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:30وَوَهَبْنَا لِدَاوُۥدَ سُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚ نِعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:30We bestowed Solomon on David who was an excellent devotee, for he turned to God in penitence. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:31إِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ ٱلصَّـٰفِنَـٰتُ ٱلْجِيَادُ
38:31When they brought fleet-footed chargers in the evening to show him, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:32فَقَالَ إِنِّىٓ أَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ ٱلْخَيْرِ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّى حَتَّىٰ تَوَارَتْ بِٱلْحِجَابِ
38:32He said: "The love of horses is worthy of desire to me for the remembrance of my Lord;" and when they were out of sight, (he said): - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:33رُدُّوهَا عَلَىَّ ۖ فَطَفِقَ مَسْحًۢا بِٱلسُّوقِ وَٱلْأَعْنَاقِ
38:33"Bring them back to me," and he began to rub and stroke their shanks and necks. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:34وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا سُلَيْمَـٰنَ وَأَلْقَيْنَا عَلَىٰ كُرْسِيِّهِۦ جَسَدًا ثُمَّ أَنَابَ
38:34We surely tried Solomon, and placed another body on his throne. So he turned to God - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:35قَالَ رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَهَبْ لِى مُلْكًا لَّا يَنۢبَغِى لِأَحَدٍ مِّنۢ بَعْدِىٓ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ
38:35Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:36فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ ٱلرِّيحَ تَجْرِى بِأَمْرِهِۦ رُخَآءً حَيْثُ أَصَابَ
38:36So we subjugated the wind to his service which carried his merchandise wheresoever he wished; - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:37وَٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّآءٍ وَغَوَّاصٍ
38:37And the devils -- the builders and divers of all kinds, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:38وَءَاخَرِينَ مُقَرَّنِينَ فِى ٱلْأَصْفَادِ
38:38And many others bound in bond. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:39هَـٰذَا عَطَآؤُنَا فَٱمْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
38:39"This is Our gift," (We said to him), "so bestow freely or withhold without reckoning." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:40وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ
38:40He has a high position with Us and an excellent abode. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:41وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَآ أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ بِنُصْبٍ وَعَذَابٍ
38:41Remember Our votary Job because he called to his Lord: "Satan has afflicted me with disease and distress." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:42ٱرْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ ۖ هَـٰذَا مُغْتَسَلٌۢ بَارِدٌ وَشَرَابٌ
38:42"Go swiftly to the spring," (We said). "This cold water is for bathing and for drinking." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:43وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
38:43We restored his family to him with others similar to them, as a blessing from Us and a reminder for men of wisdom. -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:44وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْثًا فَٱضْرِب بِّهِۦ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ ۗ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَـٰهُ صَابِرًا ۚ نِّعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:44"Take a handful of herbs," (We said to him), and apply and rub them, and do not make a mistake." We found him patient in adversity, an excellent devotee, always turning in repentance. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:45وَٱذْكُرْ عِبَـٰدَنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُو۟لِى ٱلْأَيْدِى وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ
38:45Remember Our votaries Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of power and insight. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:46إِنَّآ أَخْلَصْنَـٰهُم بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى ٱلدَّارِ
38:46We distinguished them for the distinct remembrance of the abode (of the Hereafter). - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:47وَإِنَّهُمْ عِندَنَا لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصْطَفَيْنَ ٱلْأَخْيَارِ
38:47They are the chosen ones, the excellent in Our sight. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:48وَٱذْكُرْ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَٱلْيَسَعَ وَذَا ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ وَكُلٌّ مِّنَ ٱلْأَخْيَارِ
38:48And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhu'l-Kifl. Every one of them is among the best. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:49هَـٰذَا ذِكْرٌ ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ لَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ
38:49This is a commemoration. Surely for those who take heed for themselves is an excellent place of return -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:50جَنَّـٰتِ عَدْنٍ مُّفَتَّحَةً لَّهُمُ ٱلْأَبْوَٰبُ
38:50Gardens of Eden with gates open wide to them, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:51مُتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِفَـٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَشَرَابٍ
38:51Where they will take their ease, calling for fruits in plenty, and for wine, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:52۞ وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ أَتْرَابٌ
38:52With companions of modest look, the same in age, by their side. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:53هَـٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:53This is what is promised you for the Day of Reckoning. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:54إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُۥ مِن نَّفَادٍ
38:54This is surely Our provision never-ending. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:55هَـٰذَا ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلطَّـٰغِينَ لَشَرَّ مَـَٔابٍ
38:55This (for the virtuous); but for the transgressors the evil destination, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:56جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ ٱلْمِهَادُ
38:56Hell, in which they will burn. How vile a resting place! - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:57هَـٰذَا فَلْيَذُوقُوهُ حَمِيمٌ وَغَسَّاقٌ
38:57There will be boiling water for them and cold, clammy, fetid drink to taste, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:58وَءَاخَرُ مِن شَكْلِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجٌ
38:58And other similar torments. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:59هَـٰذَا فَوْجٌ مُّقْتَحِمٌ مَّعَكُمْ ۖ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا بِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ صَالُوا۟ ٱلنَّارِ
38:59Here is a multitude rushing headlong with you. There is no welcome for them. They will roast in the fire. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:60قَالُوا۟ بَلْ أَنتُمْ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا بِكُمْ ۖ أَنتُمْ قَدَّمْتُمُوهُ لَنَا ۖ فَبِئْسَ ٱلْقَرَارُ
38:60They will say: "In fact, it is you who will have no welcome. It is you who brought this upon us. What an evil place of rest!" - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:61قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا مَن قَدَّمَ لَنَا هَـٰذَا فَزِدْهُ عَذَابًا ضِعْفًا فِى ٱلنَّارِ
38:61They will say: "O Lord, give him who has brought this upon us two times more the torment of Hell;" - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:62وَقَالُوا۟ مَا لَنَا لَا نَرَىٰ رِجَالًا كُنَّا نَعُدُّهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ
38:62And will add: "O what has happened to us that we do not see the men we counted among the wicked. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:63أَتَّخَذْنَـٰهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ
38:63Did we laugh at them (for nothing), or our eyes fail to pick them out?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:64إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَحَقٌّ تَخَاصُمُ أَهْلِ ٱلنَّارِ
38:64This contending of the inmates of Hell will surely be real. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:65قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ مُنذِرٌ ۖ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّارُ
38:65Say: "I am only a warner, and there is no other god but God, the one, the omnipotent, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:66رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفَّـٰرُ
38:66Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all-mighty, all-forgiving." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:67قُلْ هُوَ نَبَؤٌا۟ عَظِيمٌ
38:67Say: "This is a momentous message, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:68أَنتُمْ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضُونَ
38:68To which you pay no heed. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:69مَا كَانَ لِىَ مِنْ عِلْمٍۭ بِٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰٓ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ
38:69I had no knowledge of the higher Assembly when they discussed it among themselves. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:70إِن يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ إِلَّآ أَنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
38:70Only this has been revealed to me that I am a distinct warner. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:71إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَـٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّن طِينٍ
38:71When your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man from clay; - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:72فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَـٰجِدِينَ
38:72And when I have made him and have breathed into him of My spirit. Fall down in homage before him." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:73فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
38:73Then the angels bowed before him in a body, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:74إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ ٱسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
38:74Except Iblis. He was filled with pride and turned an unbeliever. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:75قَالَ يَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَىَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْعَالِينَ
38:75Said (God): "O Iblis, what hindered you from adoring what I created by My own authority? Are you too proud, or too high and mighty?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:76قَالَ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِى مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن طِينٍ
38:76He said: "I am better than he. You created me from fire, and him from clay." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:77قَالَ فَٱخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
38:77(God) said: "Then go hence, ostracised. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:78وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
38:78Upon you will be My damnation till the Day of Doom." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:79قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
38:79He said: "O Lord, give me respite till the day the dead rise from their graves." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:80قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ
38:80(God) said: "You have the respite - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:81إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْوَقْتِ ٱلْمَعْلُومِ
38:81Till the appointed day." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:82قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
38:82He said: "By Your authority, I will lead them astray, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:83إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
38:83Other than the chosen ones among Your creatures." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:84قَالَ فَٱلْحَقُّ وَٱلْحَقَّ أَقُولُ
38:84(God) said: "This is right by Me, and what I say is right. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:85لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
38:85I will fill up Hell with you together with those who follow you." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:86قُلْ مَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ
38:86Say: "I do not ask any compensation of you for it, nor am I a specious pretender. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:87إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
38:87This is only a warning for mankind. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:88وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُۥ بَعْدَ حِينٍۭ
38:88You will come to know its truth in time." - Ahmed Ali (English)
