بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
69:1ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:1THE CONCRETE REALITY. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:2مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:2What is the concrete reality? - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:3وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:3What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:4كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
69:4The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:5فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
69:5So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:6وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
69:6And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:7سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ
69:7Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:8فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ
69:8Do you see any trace of them? - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:9وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
69:9Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:10فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً
69:10When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:11إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَـٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
69:11When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:12لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ
69:12In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:13فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
69:13When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:14وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً
69:14And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:15فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
69:15On that Day will come what is to come. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:16وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ
69:16The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:17وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌ
69:17On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:18يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ
69:18You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:19فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:19He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:20إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
69:20I was certain I'll be given my account." - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:21فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
69:21So he shall have an agreeable life - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:22فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
69:22In high empyrean - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:23قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ
69:23With fruits hanging low within reach, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:24كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ
69:24(And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:25وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:25But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:26وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ
69:26And not known my account! - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:27يَـٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ
69:27I wish death had put an end to me. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:28مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ
69:28Of no use was even my wealth. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:29هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَـٰنِيَهْ
69:29Vanished has my power from me." - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:30خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
69:30"Seize him and manacle him, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:31ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
69:31Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:32ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ
69:32And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:33إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:33He did not believe in God the supreme, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:34وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
69:34Nor urged others to feed the poor. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:35فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ
69:35That is why he has no friend today, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:36وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ
69:36Nor food other than suppuration (filth) - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:37لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَ
69:37Which none but the hellish eat." - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:38فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:38So, I call to witness what you see - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:39وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:39And what you do not see, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:40إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
69:40That this is indeed the word of the noble Messenger, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:41وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
69:41And not the word of a poet. How little is it that you believe! - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:42وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
69:42Nor is it the word of a soothsayer. Little is it that you reflect! - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:43تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
69:43It has been sent down by the Lord of all the worlds. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:44وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ
69:44Had he attributed falsely any words to Us, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:45لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ
69:45We would have seized him by his right hand, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:46ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ
69:46Then cut off his aorta, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:47فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَ
69:47And not one of you would have been able to stop (Us). - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:48وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
69:48It is really a reminder for those who fear God and follow the straight path. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:49وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
69:49We certainly know that some among you do deny it. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:50وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
69:50It is surely the nemesis of unbelievers. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:51وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
69:51And He, He is indeed the ultimate Reality. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:52فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:52So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. - Ahmed Ali (English)
