بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
71:1إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
71:1SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:2قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
71:2He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:3أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ
71:3That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:4يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
71:4That He may forgive some of your sins and prolong your term till an appointed time. Surely when God's appointed time is come it will not be put off, if only you knew! - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:5قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِى لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا
71:5He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:6فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًا
71:6But the more I called, they only ran the farther away. - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:7وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓا۟ أَصَـٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ ٱسْتِكْبَارًا
71:7And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:8ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا
71:8Then I called them loudly and more openly, - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:9ثُمَّ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا
71:9And declared to them in public and in private, - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:10فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًا
71:10And I told them: 'Ask your Lord to forgive you. He is verily forgiving. - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:11يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا
71:11He will send you abundant rain from the sky, - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:12وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَـٰرًا
71:12And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:13مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا
71:13What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:14وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا
71:14Knowing that He has created you by various stages? - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:15أَلَمْ تَرَوْا۟ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَٰتٍ طِبَاقًا
71:15Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:16وَجَعَلَ ٱلْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا
71:16And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:17وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا
71:17God produced you from the earth like a vegetable growth; - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:18ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا
71:18He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:19وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا
71:19God has made the earth for you a spreading, - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:20لِّتَسْلُكُوا۟ مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا
71:20So that you may walk upon its spacious paths.' - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:21قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًا
71:21But they did not listen to me," Noah said, "and followed him whose wealth and children only added to his ruin. - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:22وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا
71:22And they contrived a plot of great magnitude, - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:23وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا
71:23And said: 'Do not abandon your gods, and do not abandon Wadda or Suwa', or Yaghuth, Ya'uq or Nasr.' - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:24وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَـٰلًا
71:24And they misled many. So do not give the evil-doers increase but in error. - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:25مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٔـٰتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا۟ فَأُدْخِلُوا۟ نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارًا
71:25They were drowned because of their habitual sinfulness, and sent to Hell, and did not find any helper other than God. - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:26وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا
71:26Noah said: "O Lord, do not leave a single habitation of unbelievers on the earth. - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:27إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا۟ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا
71:27If you leave them, they will lead Your creatures astray, and beget but iniquitous and ungrateful offspring. - Ahmed Ali (English)
71:28رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِىَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًۢا
71:28O Lord, forgive me, my parents, and any one who enters my house as a believer, and all believing men and women, and do not give the evil-doers increase save in ruin. - Ahmed Ali (English)
