بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
76:1هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ حِينٌ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْـًٔا مَّذْكُورًا
76:1WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:2إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا
76:2Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:3إِنَّا هَدَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا
76:3We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:4إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ سَلَـٰسِلَا۟ وَأَغْلَـٰلًا وَسَعِيرًا
76:4We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:5إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا
76:5Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:6عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا
76:6From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:7يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسْتَطِيرًا
76:7Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:8وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا
76:8And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:9إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءً وَلَا شُكُورًا
76:9(Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:10إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا
76:10We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:11فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا
76:11So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:12وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا
76:12And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:13مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا
76:13Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:14وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَـٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا
76:14The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:15وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا۠
76:15Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:16قَوَارِيرَا۟ مِن فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا
76:16And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:17وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا
76:17There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:18عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا
76:18From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:19۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنثُورًا
76:19And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:20وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا
76:20When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:21عَـٰلِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ ۖ وَحُلُّوٓا۟ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا
76:21On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:22إِنَّ هَـٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا
76:22"This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:23إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَنزِيلًا
76:23We have revealed the Qur'an to you gradually; - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:24فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا
76:24So wait for your Lord's command, and do not follow any sinner or disbeliever among them. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:25وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا
76:25Meditate upon the name of your Lord morning and evening; - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:26وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَٱسْجُدْ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا
76:26And bow in homage part of the night, and glorify Him far into the night. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:27إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيلًا
76:27Surely men love what hastes away and forget the grievous day (ahead). - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:28نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَآ أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَآ أَمْثَـٰلَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا
76:28We created them and fixed their bones and joints; and We could replace them when We like with others like them. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:29إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا
76:29This surely is a reminder: Therefore whosoever desires may take the way to his Lord. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:30وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
76:30But you will not desire except as God wills. Verily He is all-knowing and all-wise. - Ahmed Ali (English)
76:31يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۢا
76:31He admits whosoever He will to His benevolence. But for the evil-doers He has prepared a painful punishment. - Ahmed Ali (English)
