بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
84:1إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتْ
84:1WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:2وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
84:2And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:3وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ
84:3When the earth is stretched out taut - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:4وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ
84:4And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:5وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
84:5And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:6يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَـٰقِيهِ
84:6O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:7فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ
84:7And he who is given his ledger in his right hand - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:8فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا
84:8Will have an easy reckoning, - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:9وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا
84:9And will return to his people full of joy. - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:10وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ
84:10But he who is given his ledger from behind his back - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:11فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًا
84:11Will pray for death, - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:12وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
84:12But will be roasted in the fire. - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:13إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا
84:13He lived rejoicing among his people, - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:14إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
84:14Never thinking he will return. - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:15بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًا
84:15Why not? His Lord was always watching him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:16فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ
84:16So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:17وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
84:17And the night and all it gathers, - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:18وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ
84:18And the moon when at the full, - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:19لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ
84:19That you will climb from stage to stage. - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:20فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
84:20So, wherefore do they not believe? - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:21وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩
84:21And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:22بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ
84:22In fact the unbelievers disavow. - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:23وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
84:23But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:24فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
84:24So give them news of painful punishment, - Ahmed Ali (English)
84:25إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ
84:25Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. - Ahmed Ali (English)
