بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
85:1وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ
85:1I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:2وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ
85:2And the promised day, - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:3وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
85:3And the witness and the witnessed, - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:4قُتِلَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ
85:4That accursed are the men of the trench - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:5ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ
85:5Full of fire fed by faggots, - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:6إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ
85:6As they sat around it - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:7وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ
85:7Witnessing what they had done to the believers! - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:8وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ
85:8They had no other reason for hating them except that they believed in God the mighty, worthy of praise, - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:9ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
85:9Whose kingdom spreads over the heavens and the earth. God is witness over everything. - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:10إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ
85:10Surely for those who persecute believers, men and women, and do not repent afterwards, is the punishment of Hell, and the punishment of burning. - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:11إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ
85:11Surely for those who believe and do the right are gardens with rivers running by. That is the greatest success. - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:12إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
85:12The grip of your Lord is severe indeed! - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:13إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
85:13It is verily He who initiates and repeats. - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:14وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ
85:14He is the forgiving and the loving, - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:15ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ
85:15The Lord of the glorious Throne, - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:16فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
85:16Who does as He pleases. - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:17هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ
85:17Has the story of the hordes - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:18فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ
85:18Of Pharaoh and Thamud come to you? - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:19بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ
85:19Yet the infidels persist in denial. - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:20وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ
85:20But God surrounds them from all sides. - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:21بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ
85:21This is indeed the glorious Qur'an - Ahmed Ali (English)
85:22فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ
85:22(Preserved) on the guarded tablet. - Ahmed Ali (English)
