بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
90:1لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ
90:1I CALL THIS earth to witness -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:2وَأَنتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ
90:2And you are free to live upon it, -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:3وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ
90:3And the parent and the offspring, - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:4لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ فِى كَبَدٍ
90:4That We created man in toil and trouble. - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:5أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ
90:5Does he think that no one has power over him? - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:6يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا
90:6He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:7أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ
90:7Does he think that no one sees him? - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:8أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عَيْنَيْنِ
90:8Did We not give him two eyes, - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:9وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ
90:9One tongue, and two lips, - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:10وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ
90:10And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:11فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ
90:11But he could not scale the steep ascent. - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:12وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْعَقَبَةُ
90:12How will you comprehend what the Steep ascent is? -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:13فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ
90:13To free a neck (from the burden of debt or slavery), - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:14أَوْ إِطْعَـٰمٌ فِى يَوْمٍ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍ
90:14Or to feed in times of famine - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:15يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ
90:15The orphan near in relationship, - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:16أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ
90:16Or the poor in distress; - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:17ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ
90:17And to be of those who believe, and urge upon one another to persevere, and urge upon each other to be kind. - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:18أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
90:18They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:19وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
90:19But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: - Ahmed Ali (English)
90:20عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ
90:20The Fire will vault them over. - Ahmed Ali (English)
