بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
96:1ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ
96:1READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:2خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
96:2Created man from an embryo; - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:3ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ
96:3Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:4ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ
96:4Who taught by the pen, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:5عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
96:5Taught man what he did not know. - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:6كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ
96:6And yet, but yet man is rebellious, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:7أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
96:7For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:8إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ
96:8Surely your returning is to your Lord. - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:9أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ
96:9Have you seen him who restrains - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:10عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
96:10A votary when he turns to his devotions? - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:11أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
96:11Have you thought, if he had been on guidance - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:12أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ
96:12Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:13أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
96:13Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:14أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
96:14Does he not know that God sees? - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:15كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
96:15And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:16نَاصِيَةٍ كَـٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ
96:16By the lying, the sinful forelock. - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:17فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
96:17So let him call his associates, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:18سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
96:18We shall call the guards of Hell. - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:19كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩
96:19Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). - Ahmed Ali (English)
