بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
56:1
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
56:1
When the Waqi`ah occurs - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:2
لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ
56:2
There is not, for its occurrence, Kadhibah. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:3
خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ
56:3
Bringing low (some), exalting (others). - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:4
إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّا
56:4
When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:5
وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّا
56:5
And the mountains will be powdered to dust, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:6
فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءً مُّنۢبَثًّا
56:6
So that they will become floating dust particles. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:7
وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا ثَلَـٰثَةً
56:7
And you (all) will be in three groups. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:8
فَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
56:8
So those on the right -- how (fortunate) will be those on the right! - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:9
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
56:9
And those on the left -- how (unfortunate) will be those on the left! - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:10
وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ
56:10
And those foremost will be foremost. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:11
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
56:11
These will be the nearest (to Allah). - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:12
فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
56:12
In the Gardens of Delight. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:13
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
56:13
A multitude of those will be from the first ones. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:14
وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
56:14
And a few of those will be from the later ones. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:15
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ
56:15
(They will be) on thrones, Mawdunah. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:16
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
56:16
Reclining thereon, face to face. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:17
يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ
56:17
Immortal boys will go around them (serving), - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:18
بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ
56:18
With cups, and jugs, and a glass of flowing wine, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:19
لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ
56:19
Wherefrom neither Yusadda`un nor Yunzifun. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:20
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ
56:20
And with fruit that they may choose. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:21
وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
56:21
And with the flesh of fowls that they desire. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:22
وَحُورٌ عِينٌ
56:22
And (there will be) Hur with wide lovely eyes. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:23
كَأَمْثَـٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ
56:23
Like preserved pearls. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:24
جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
56:24
A reward for what they used to do. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:25
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا
56:25
No Laghw (evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:26
إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَـٰمًا سَلَـٰمًا
56:26
But only the saying of: "Salaman! Salaman!" - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:27
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:27
And those on the right -- how (fortunate) will be those on the right - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:28
فِى سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ
56:28
(They will be) among Sidri Makhdud, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:29
وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ
56:29
And among Talh Mandud. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:30
وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ
56:30
And in shade Mamdud, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:31
وَمَآءٍ مَّسْكُوبٍ
56:31
And by water flowing constantly, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:32
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ
56:32
And fruit in plenty, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:33
لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ
56:33
Whose supply is not cut off nor are they out of reach. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:34
وَفُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ
56:34
And on couches, raised high. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:35
إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءً
56:35
Verily, We have created them a special creation. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:36
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا
56:36
And made them virgins. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:37
عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا
56:37
`Urub, Atrab. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:38
لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:38
For those on the right. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:39
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
56:39
A multitude of those will be from the first generation. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:40
وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
56:40
And a multitude of those will be from the later generations. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:41
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ
56:41
And those on the left How will be those on the left - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:42
فِى سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ
56:42
In Samum, and Hamim. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:43
وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ
56:43
And a shadow from Yahmum, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:44
لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ
56:44
Neither Barid nor Karim, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:45
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ
56:45
Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:46
وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
56:46
And were persisting in great sin. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:47
وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
56:47
And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected" - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:48
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
56:48
"And also our forefathers" - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:49
قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
56:49
Say: "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times." - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:50
لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
56:50
"All will surely be gathered together for appointed meeting of a known Day." - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:51
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ
56:51
"Then verily, --- you the erring -- ones, the deniers!" - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:52
لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ
56:52
"You verily, will eat of the trees of Zaqqum." - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:53
فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
56:53
"Then you will fill your bellies therewith," - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:54
فَشَـٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
56:54
"And drink the Hamim on top of it." - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:55
فَشَـٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ
56:55
"And you will drink (that) like Al-Him!" - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:56
هَـٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
56:56
That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:57
نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ
56:57
We created you, then why do you believe not - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:58
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ
56:58
Do you not see the semen you emit. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:59
ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ
56:59
Is it you who create it, or are We the Creator - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:60
نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
56:60
We have decreed death to you all, and We are not outstripped, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:61
عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
56:61
To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:62
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
56:62
And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation, why then do you not remember - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:63
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ
56:63
Do you not see what you sow. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:64
ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ
56:64
Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:65
لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ حُطَـٰمًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ
56:65
Were it Our will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be Tafakkahun. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:66
إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ
56:66
(Saying:) "We are indeed Mughramun!" - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:67
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
56:67
"Nay, but we are deprived!" - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:68
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ
56:68
Do you not see the water that you drink. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:69
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ
56:69
Is it you who cause it to come down from Al-Muzn, or are We the Cause of it coming down - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:70
لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ
56:70
If We willed, We verily could make it salty; why then do you not give thanks - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:71
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ
56:71
Do you not see the fire which you kindle. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:72
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ
56:72
Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:73
نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَـٰهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَـٰعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ
56:73
We have made it a Reminder, and an article of use for the Muqwin. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:74
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
56:74
Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:75
۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ
56:75
Fala! I swear by the Mawaqi` of the stars. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:76
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ
56:76
And verily that is indeed a great oath, if you but know. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:77
إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌ كَرِيمٌ
56:77
That (this) is indeed an honorable recitation. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:78
فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مَّكْنُونٍ
56:78
In a Book Maknun. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:79
لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ
56:79
Which none touches but the pure ones. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:80
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
56:80
A revelation from the Lord of all that exists. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:81
أَفَبِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ
56:81
Is it such a talk that you are Mudhinun - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:82
وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ
56:82
And you make your provision your denial! - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:83
فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ
56:83
Then why do you not (intervene) when it reaches Al-Hulqum - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:84
وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ
56:84
And you at the moment are looking, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:85
وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ
56:85
But We are nearer to him than you, but you see not, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:86
فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ
56:86
Then why do you not -- if you are not Madinin - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:87
تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
56:87
Return the soul, if you are truthful - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:88
فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
56:88
Then, if he be of the Muqarrabin, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:89
فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ
56:89
Then Rawh, Rayhan and a Garden of Delights. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:90
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:90
And if he be of those on the right, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:91
فَسَلَـٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:91
Then Salam (peace) to you from those on the right. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:92
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
56:92
But if he be of the denying, the erring, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:93
فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ
56:93
Then for him is an entertainment with Hamim. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:94
وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ
56:94
And entry in Hellfire. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:95
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
56:95
Verily, this! This is an absolute truth with certainty. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
56:96
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
56:96
So, glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
