بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
78:1عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
78:1OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:2عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
78:2(Is it) of the great announcement - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:3ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
78:3About which they have been differing? - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:4كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:4Indeed they will come to know soon; - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:5ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:5They will indeed come to know soon. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:6أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا
78:6Did We not make the earth a spreading, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:7وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
78:7The mountains tent-pins? - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:8وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
78:8We created you in pairs, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:9وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
78:9And made sleep for you to rest, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:10وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
78:10The night a covering, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:11وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
78:11And the day for seeking livelihood. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:12وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
78:12We raised over you several secure (skies), - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:13وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
78:13And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:14وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
78:14And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:15لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
78:15That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:16وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
78:16And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:17إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
78:17Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:18يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
78:18The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:19وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
78:19The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:20وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
78:20The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:21إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
78:21Certainly Hell lies in wait, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:22لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
78:22The rebels' abode, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:23لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
78:23Where they will remain for aeons, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:24لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78:24Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:25إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
78:25Except boiling water and benumbing cold: - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:26جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
78:26, A fitting reward. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:27إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
78:27They were those who did not expect a reckoning, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:28وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
78:28And rejected Our signs as lies. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:29وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا
78:29We have kept account of everything in a book. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:30فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
78:30So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:31إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
78:31As for those who preserve themselves from evil and follow the straight path, there is attainment for them: - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:32حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا
78:32Orchards and vineyards, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:33وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
78:33And graceful maidens of the same age, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:34وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
78:34And flasks full and flowing. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:35لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
78:35They will hear no blasphemies there or disavowals: - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:36جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
78:36A recompense from your Lord, a sufficient gift, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:37رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
78:37The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that lies between them, most benevolent, to whom none may dare address a word. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:38يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
78:38The day the Spirit takes its stand, with the angels ranged in rows. None will speak except who is permitted by Ar-Rahman and says what is right. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:39ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
78:39That day is certain. So whosoever likes may prepare a way to his Lord. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:40إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
78:40We have indeed warned you of a calamity near at hand, a day when man will see what he had sent (of his deeds) ahead, and the unbeliever will say: "Woe alas. Ah would that I were dust!" - Ahmed Ali (English)
