بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
83:1وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ
83:1WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:2ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ
83:2Who insist on being given full when they take from others, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:3وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ
83:3Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:4أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ
83:4Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:5لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
83:5On a grievous day, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:6يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
83:6The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:7كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ
83:7Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:8وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ
83:8How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:9كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:9It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:10وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
83:10Ah the woe that day for those who deny, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:11ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
83:11Who call the Day of judgement a lie! - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:12وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
83:12None denies it but the sinful transgressors. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:13إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
83:13When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:14كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
83:14No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:15كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ
83:15Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:16ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
83:16Then they will indeed burn in Hell. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:17ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
83:17They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:18كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ
83:18Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:19وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
83:19But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:20كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:20It is a (repository of) distinctly written record - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:21يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:21Witnessed by those who are honoured. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:22إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
83:22Verily the pious will be in heaven, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:23عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:23On couches face to face. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:24تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
83:24On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:25يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ
83:25They will be served the choicest wine, sealed - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:26خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ
83:26With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:27وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ
83:27Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:28عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:28A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:29إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:29The sinners indeed laughed at believers - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:30وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
83:30And winked at one another as they passed by them; - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:31وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ
83:31And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:32وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
83:32And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:33وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ
83:33But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:34فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:34So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:35عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:35Regarding them from their cushioned seats. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:36هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
83:36Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? - Ahmed Ali (English)
