بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
38:1
صٓ ۚ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ذِى ٱلذِّكْرِ
38:1
SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:2
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى عِزَّةٍ وَشِقَاقٍ
38:2
But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:3
كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ فَنَادَوا۟ وَّلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصٍ
38:3
How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:4
وَعَجِبُوٓا۟ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٌ مِّنْهُمْ ۖ وَقَالَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا سَـٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ
38:4
They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:5
أَجَعَلَ ٱلْـَٔالِهَةَ إِلَـٰهًا وَٰحِدًا ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ عُجَابٌ
38:5
Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:6
وَٱنطَلَقَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِنْهُمْ أَنِ ٱمْشُوا۟ وَٱصْبِرُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ يُرَادُ
38:6
And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:7
مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِى ٱلْمِلَّةِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا ٱخْتِلَـٰقٌ
38:7
We never heard of it in the former faith. It is surely a fabrication. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:8
أَءُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّن ذِكْرِى ۖ بَل لَّمَّا يَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِ
38:8
To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:9
أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْوَهَّابِ
38:9
Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:10
أَمْ لَهُم مُّلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ فَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبِ
38:10
Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:11
جُندٌ مَّا هُنَالِكَ مَهْزُومٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ
38:11
They will be one more army vanquished among the many routed hordes. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:12
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ ذُو ٱلْأَوْتَادِ
38:12
Even before them the people of Noah, 'Ad, the mighty Pharoah, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:13
وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ لُوطٍ وَأَصْحَـٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ
38:13
And the Thamud, the people of Lot, as well as the dwellers of the Wood, had denied. These were the hordes. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:14
إِن كُلٌّ إِلَّا كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ
38:14
Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:15
وَمَا يَنظُرُ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً مَّا لَهَا مِن فَوَاقٍ
38:15
They await but a single blast which will not be repeated. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:16
وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا عَجِّل لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:16
Still they say: "O Lord, give us our share before the Day of Reckoning." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:17
ٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُۥدَ ذَا ٱلْأَيْدِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:17
Bear with patience what they say, and remember Our votary David, man of strength. He surely turned to Us in penitence. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:18
إِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا ٱلْجِبَالَ مَعَهُۥ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِشْرَاقِ
38:18
We subjugated the chiefs (of tribes) to struggle day and night with him, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:19
وَٱلطَّيْرَ مَحْشُورَةً ۖ كُلٌّ لَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:19
And the levied Tair. They were all obedient to him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:20
وَشَدَدْنَا مُلْكَهُۥ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَفَصْلَ ٱلْخِطَابِ
38:20
So We further strengthened his kingdom, and bestowed wisdom on him, and judgement in legal matters. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:21
۞ وَهَلْ أَتَىٰكَ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَصْمِ إِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا۟ ٱلْمِحْرَابَ
38:21
Have you heard of the litigants who jumped over the wall into his chamber? - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:22
إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ دَاوُۥدَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ ۖ خَصْمَانِ بَغَىٰ بَعْضُنَا عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تُشْطِطْ وَٱهْدِنَآ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ
38:22
When they came before David, he was frightened of them. "Do not be afraid," they said. "The two of us are disputing the wrong one has done the other. So judge between us with equity, and do not be unjust, and guide us to the right path. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:23
إِنَّ هَـٰذَآ أَخِى لَهُۥ تِسْعٌ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً وَلِىَ نَعْجَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِى فِى ٱلْخِطَابِ
38:23
This man here is my brother. He has ninety and nine ewes while I have only one. He demands that I should give him my ewe, and wants to get the better of me in argument." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:24
قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ إِلَىٰ نِعَاجِهِۦ ۖ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلْخُلَطَآءِ لَيَبْغِى بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَقَلِيلٌ مَّا هُمْ ۗ وَظَنَّ دَاوُۥدُ أَنَّمَا فَتَنَّـٰهُ فَٱسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُۥ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ ۩
38:24
(David) said: "He is unjust in demanding your ewe to add to his (many) ewes. Many partners are surely -- unjust to one another, except those who believe and do the right; but there are only a few of them." It occurred to David that he was being tried by Us, and he begged his Lord to forgive him, and fell down in homage and repented. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:25
فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُۥ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ
38:25
So We forgave him. He has surely a high rank with Us and an excellent place of return. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:26
يَـٰدَاوُۥدُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰكَ خَلِيفَةً فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ فَيُضِلَّكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌۢ بِمَا نَسُوا۟ يَوْمَ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:26
"O David, We have made you trustee on the earth. So judge between men equitably, and do not follow your lust lest it should lead you astray from the way of God. Surely for those who go astray from the way of God, is severe punishment, for having forgotten the Day of Reckoning. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:27
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَـٰطِلًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ
38:27
We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all for nothing. Only those who deny imagine so. So for the unbelievers there is woe from the fire. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:28
أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ كَٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ كَٱلْفُجَّارِ
38:28
Should We equate those who do the right with those who spread corruption in the land? Should We make those who are morally integrated equal to those who seek disintegration? - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:29
كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَـٰرَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓا۟ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
38:29
We have sent down a Book to you which is blessed, so that people may apply their minds to its revelations, and the men of wisdom may reflect. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:30
وَوَهَبْنَا لِدَاوُۥدَ سُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚ نِعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:30
We bestowed Solomon on David who was an excellent devotee, for he turned to God in penitence. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:31
إِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ ٱلصَّـٰفِنَـٰتُ ٱلْجِيَادُ
38:31
When they brought fleet-footed chargers in the evening to show him, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:32
فَقَالَ إِنِّىٓ أَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ ٱلْخَيْرِ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّى حَتَّىٰ تَوَارَتْ بِٱلْحِجَابِ
38:32
He said: "The love of horses is worthy of desire to me for the remembrance of my Lord;" and when they were out of sight, (he said): - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:33
رُدُّوهَا عَلَىَّ ۖ فَطَفِقَ مَسْحًۢا بِٱلسُّوقِ وَٱلْأَعْنَاقِ
38:33
"Bring them back to me," and he began to rub and stroke their shanks and necks. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:34
وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا سُلَيْمَـٰنَ وَأَلْقَيْنَا عَلَىٰ كُرْسِيِّهِۦ جَسَدًا ثُمَّ أَنَابَ
38:34
We surely tried Solomon, and placed another body on his throne. So he turned to God - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:35
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَهَبْ لِى مُلْكًا لَّا يَنۢبَغِى لِأَحَدٍ مِّنۢ بَعْدِىٓ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ
38:35
Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:36
فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ ٱلرِّيحَ تَجْرِى بِأَمْرِهِۦ رُخَآءً حَيْثُ أَصَابَ
38:36
So we subjugated the wind to his service which carried his merchandise wheresoever he wished; - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:37
وَٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّآءٍ وَغَوَّاصٍ
38:37
And the devils -- the builders and divers of all kinds, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:38
وَءَاخَرِينَ مُقَرَّنِينَ فِى ٱلْأَصْفَادِ
38:38
And many others bound in bond. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:39
هَـٰذَا عَطَآؤُنَا فَٱمْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
38:39
"This is Our gift," (We said to him), "so bestow freely or withhold without reckoning." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:40
وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ
38:40
He has a high position with Us and an excellent abode. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:41
وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَآ أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ بِنُصْبٍ وَعَذَابٍ
38:41
Remember Our votary Job because he called to his Lord: "Satan has afflicted me with disease and distress." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:42
ٱرْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ ۖ هَـٰذَا مُغْتَسَلٌۢ بَارِدٌ وَشَرَابٌ
38:42
"Go swiftly to the spring," (We said). "This cold water is for bathing and for drinking." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:43
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
38:43
We restored his family to him with others similar to them, as a blessing from Us and a reminder for men of wisdom. -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:44
وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْثًا فَٱضْرِب بِّهِۦ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ ۗ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَـٰهُ صَابِرًا ۚ نِّعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:44
"Take a handful of herbs," (We said to him), and apply and rub them, and do not make a mistake." We found him patient in adversity, an excellent devotee, always turning in repentance. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:45
وَٱذْكُرْ عِبَـٰدَنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُو۟لِى ٱلْأَيْدِى وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ
38:45
Remember Our votaries Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of power and insight. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:46
إِنَّآ أَخْلَصْنَـٰهُم بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى ٱلدَّارِ
38:46
We distinguished them for the distinct remembrance of the abode (of the Hereafter). - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:47
وَإِنَّهُمْ عِندَنَا لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصْطَفَيْنَ ٱلْأَخْيَارِ
38:47
They are the chosen ones, the excellent in Our sight. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:48
وَٱذْكُرْ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَٱلْيَسَعَ وَذَا ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ وَكُلٌّ مِّنَ ٱلْأَخْيَارِ
38:48
And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhu'l-Kifl. Every one of them is among the best. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:49
هَـٰذَا ذِكْرٌ ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ لَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍ
38:49
This is a commemoration. Surely for those who take heed for themselves is an excellent place of return -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:50
جَنَّـٰتِ عَدْنٍ مُّفَتَّحَةً لَّهُمُ ٱلْأَبْوَٰبُ
38:50
Gardens of Eden with gates open wide to them, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:51
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِفَـٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَشَرَابٍ
38:51
Where they will take their ease, calling for fruits in plenty, and for wine, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:52
۞ وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ أَتْرَابٌ
38:52
With companions of modest look, the same in age, by their side. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:53
هَـٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:53
This is what is promised you for the Day of Reckoning. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:54
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُۥ مِن نَّفَادٍ
38:54
This is surely Our provision never-ending. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:55
هَـٰذَا ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلطَّـٰغِينَ لَشَرَّ مَـَٔابٍ
38:55
This (for the virtuous); but for the transgressors the evil destination, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:56
جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ ٱلْمِهَادُ
38:56
Hell, in which they will burn. How vile a resting place! - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:57
هَـٰذَا فَلْيَذُوقُوهُ حَمِيمٌ وَغَسَّاقٌ
38:57
There will be boiling water for them and cold, clammy, fetid drink to taste, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:58
وَءَاخَرُ مِن شَكْلِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجٌ
38:58
And other similar torments. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:59
هَـٰذَا فَوْجٌ مُّقْتَحِمٌ مَّعَكُمْ ۖ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا بِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ صَالُوا۟ ٱلنَّارِ
38:59
Here is a multitude rushing headlong with you. There is no welcome for them. They will roast in the fire. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:60
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ أَنتُمْ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا بِكُمْ ۖ أَنتُمْ قَدَّمْتُمُوهُ لَنَا ۖ فَبِئْسَ ٱلْقَرَارُ
38:60
They will say: "In fact, it is you who will have no welcome. It is you who brought this upon us. What an evil place of rest!" - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:61
قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا مَن قَدَّمَ لَنَا هَـٰذَا فَزِدْهُ عَذَابًا ضِعْفًا فِى ٱلنَّارِ
38:61
They will say: "O Lord, give him who has brought this upon us two times more the torment of Hell;" - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:62
وَقَالُوا۟ مَا لَنَا لَا نَرَىٰ رِجَالًا كُنَّا نَعُدُّهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ
38:62
And will add: "O what has happened to us that we do not see the men we counted among the wicked. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:63
أَتَّخَذْنَـٰهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ
38:63
Did we laugh at them (for nothing), or our eyes fail to pick them out?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:64
إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَحَقٌّ تَخَاصُمُ أَهْلِ ٱلنَّارِ
38:64
This contending of the inmates of Hell will surely be real. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:65
قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ مُنذِرٌ ۖ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّارُ
38:65
Say: "I am only a warner, and there is no other god but God, the one, the omnipotent, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:66
رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفَّـٰرُ
38:66
Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all-mighty, all-forgiving." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:67
قُلْ هُوَ نَبَؤٌا۟ عَظِيمٌ
38:67
Say: "This is a momentous message, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:68
أَنتُمْ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضُونَ
38:68
To which you pay no heed. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:69
مَا كَانَ لِىَ مِنْ عِلْمٍۭ بِٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰٓ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ
38:69
I had no knowledge of the higher Assembly when they discussed it among themselves. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:70
إِن يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ إِلَّآ أَنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
38:70
Only this has been revealed to me that I am a distinct warner. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:71
إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَـٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّن طِينٍ
38:71
When your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man from clay; - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:72
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَـٰجِدِينَ
38:72
And when I have made him and have breathed into him of My spirit. Fall down in homage before him." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:73
فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
38:73
Then the angels bowed before him in a body, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:74
إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ ٱسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
38:74
Except Iblis. He was filled with pride and turned an unbeliever. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:75
قَالَ يَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَىَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْعَالِينَ
38:75
Said (God): "O Iblis, what hindered you from adoring what I created by My own authority? Are you too proud, or too high and mighty?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:76
قَالَ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِى مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن طِينٍ
38:76
He said: "I am better than he. You created me from fire, and him from clay." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:77
قَالَ فَٱخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
38:77
(God) said: "Then go hence, ostracised. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:78
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
38:78
Upon you will be My damnation till the Day of Doom." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:79
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
38:79
He said: "O Lord, give me respite till the day the dead rise from their graves." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:80
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ
38:80
(God) said: "You have the respite - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:81
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْوَقْتِ ٱلْمَعْلُومِ
38:81
Till the appointed day." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:82
قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
38:82
He said: "By Your authority, I will lead them astray, - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:83
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
38:83
Other than the chosen ones among Your creatures." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:84
قَالَ فَٱلْحَقُّ وَٱلْحَقَّ أَقُولُ
38:84
(God) said: "This is right by Me, and what I say is right. - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:85
لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
38:85
I will fill up Hell with you together with those who follow you." - Ahmed Ali (English)
38:86
قُلْ مَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ
38:86
Say: "I do not ask any compensation of you for it, nor am I a specious pretender. - Ahmed Ali (English)

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

This is only a warning for mankind. - Ahmed Ali (English)

وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُۥ بَعْدَ حِينٍۭ
