بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
76:1
هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ حِينٌ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْـًٔا مَّذْكُورًا
76:1
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:2
إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا
76:2
Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:3
إِنَّا هَدَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا
76:3
We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:4
إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ سَلَـٰسِلَا۟ وَأَغْلَـٰلًا وَسَعِيرًا
76:4
We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:5
إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا
76:5
Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:6
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا
76:6
The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:7
يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسْتَطِيرًا
76:7
They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:8
وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا
76:8
And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:9
إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءً وَلَا شُكُورًا
76:9
They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:10
إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا
76:10
“Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:11
فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا
76:11
So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:12
وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا
76:12
And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:13
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا
76:13
Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:14
وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَـٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا
76:14
And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:15
وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا۠
76:15
Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:16
قَوَارِيرَا۟ مِن فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا
76:16
Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:17
وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا
76:17
And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:18
عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا
76:18
Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:19
۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنثُورًا
76:19
Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:20
وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا
76:20
And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:21
عَـٰلِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ ۖ وَحُلُّوٓا۟ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا
76:21
In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:22
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا
76:22
It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:23
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَنزِيلًا
76:23
Indeed We have sent down the Qur’an upon you, in stages. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:24
فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا
76:24
Therefore stay patient upon your Lord’s command, and do not listen to any of the sinners or ingrates among them. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:25
وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا
76:25
And remember the name of your Lord morning and evening. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:26
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَٱسْجُدْ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا
76:26
And prostrate for Him in a part of the night, and proclaim His purity into the long night. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:27
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيلًا
76:27
Indeed these people love what they have, the fleeting one, and have forsaken the immensely important day behind them. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:28
نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَآ أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَآ أَمْثَـٰلَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا
76:28
It is We Who created them, and strengthened their skeleton; and We can replace them with others like them, whenever We will. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:29
إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا
76:29
This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:30
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
76:30
And what will you wish, except if Allah wills; indeed Allah is All Knowing, Wise. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
76:31
يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۢا
76:31
He admits into His mercy, whomever He wills; and for the unjust He has kept prepared a painful punishment. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
