بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

76:1 هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ حِينٌ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْـًٔا مَّذْكُورًا
76:1 Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:2 إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا
76:2 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:3 إِنَّا هَدَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا
76:3 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:4 إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ سَلَـٰسِلَا۟ وَأَغْلَـٰلًا وَسَعِيرًا
76:4 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:5 إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا
76:5 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:6 عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا
76:6 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:7 يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسْتَطِيرًا
76:7 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:8 وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا
76:8 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:9 إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءً وَلَا شُكُورًا
76:9 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:10 إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا
76:10 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:11 فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا
76:11 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:12 وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا
76:12 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:13 مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا
76:13 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:14 وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَـٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا
76:14 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:15 وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا۠
76:15 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:16 قَوَارِيرَا۟ مِن فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا
76:16 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:17 وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا
76:17 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:18 عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا
76:18 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:19 ۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنثُورًا
76:19 There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:20 وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا
76:20 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:21 عَـٰلِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ ۖ وَحُلُّوٓا۟ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا
76:21 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:22 إِنَّ هَـٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا
76:22 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:23 إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَنزِيلًا
76:23 (O Prophet), indeed We have revealed the Qur'an to you in portions. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:24 فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا
76:24 So persevere with the command of your Lord and do not pay any heed to the wicked and the unbelieving, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:25 وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا
76:25 and remember the name of your Lord, morning and evening; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:26 وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَٱسْجُدْ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا
76:26 and prostrate yourself before Him at night, and extol His Glory during the long watches of the night. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:27 إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيلًا
76:27 Verily they love (the good of this world) that is hastily obtainable and are oblivious of the burdensome Day ahead of them. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:28 نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَآ أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَآ أَمْثَـٰلَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا
76:28 We created them and strengthened their joints; and whenever We wish, We can change their faces entirely. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:29 إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا
76:29 Verily this is an Exhortation; so let him who so will take a way to his Lord. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:30 وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
76:30 But your willing shall be of no avail until Allah Himself so wills. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, Most Wise. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

76:31 يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۢا
76:31 He admits to His Mercy whomsoever He pleases. As for the wrong-doers, He has prepared for them a grievous chastisement. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
