بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

44:1 حمٓ
44:1 Ha Mim. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:2 وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
44:2 By the Book that makes things clear, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:3 إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَـٰرَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
44:3 surely We sent it down on a blessed night, We have always sent warnings, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:4 فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ
44:4 on that night every wise decree is specified - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:5 أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ
44:5 by Our own command -- We have been sending messages, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:6 رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
44:6 as a mercy from your Lord, He hears all and knows all, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:7 رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
44:7 He is the Lord of heaven and earth and all that is between them, if only you would really believe, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:8 لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
44:8 there is no deity save Him: It is He who gives both life and death -- He is your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:9 بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ
44:9 yet, they toy with their doubts. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:10 فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
44:10 Wait, then, for the Day when the sky brings forth plainly visible clouds of smoke. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:11 يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَـٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
44:11 That will envelop the people. This will be a painful punishment. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:12 رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ
44:12 Then they will say, "Lord, relieve us from this torment, for truly we are now believers in You." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:13 أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ
44:13 How can they benefit from admonition, seeing that a messenger had already come to them explaining things clearly? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:14 ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ
44:14 Then they turned away from him and said, "He is a madman, taught by others!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:15 إِنَّا كَاشِفُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ
44:15 Were We to ease the torment for a while, you would still revert to denial of the truth. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:16 يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ
44:16 On the Day We inflict the direst scourge upon all sinners, We will certainly exact retribution. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:17 ۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ
44:17 We tried the people of Pharaoh before them: a noble messenger was sent to them, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:18 أَنْ أَدُّوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
44:18 saying, "Hand over God's servants to me. I am a trustworthy messenger for you. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:19 وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
44:19 Do not set yourselves above God: I bring you clear authority. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:20 وَإِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ
44:20 I have sought refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me [to death]. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:21 وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ لِى فَٱعْتَزِلُونِ
44:21 If you do not believe in me, at least keep away from me." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:22 فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ
44:22 Then he cried out to his Lord, "These are sinful people." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:23 فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
44:23 God said, "Set out with My servants by night, for you will certainly be pursued. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:24 وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ
44:24 Leave the sea behind you parted; they are a host destined to be drowned." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:25 كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
44:25 How many gardens and fountains they left behind them, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:26 وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
44:26 and cornfields and splendid buildings, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:27 وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا۟ فِيهَا فَـٰكِهِينَ
44:27 and pleasant things in which they delighted! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:28 كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ
44:28 Such was their end, and what had been theirs We gave to other people to inherit. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:29 فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنظَرِينَ
44:29 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they allowed any respite. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:30 وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْمُهِينِ
44:30 We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:31 مِن فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
44:31 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:32 وَلَقَدِ ٱخْتَرْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
44:32 We knowingly chose them above all other people - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:33 وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَـٰٓؤٌا۟ مُّبِينٌ
44:33 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:34 إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ
44:34 Yet those who deny the truth say, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:35 إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ
44:35 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:36 فَأْتُوا۟ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
44:36 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:37 أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ
44:37 Are they better than the people of Tubba' and those who came before them? We destroyed them, because they were guilty of sin. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:38 وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ
44:38 We did not idly create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them; - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:39 مَا خَلَقْنَـٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
44:39 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:40 إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ مِيقَـٰتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
44:40 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:41 يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
44:41 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to another, nor shall any be helped, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:42 إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
44:42 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:43 إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
44:43 Surely the fruit of the Zaqqum tree - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:44 طَعَامُ ٱلْأَثِيمِ
44:44 shall be food for the sinners: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:45 كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَغْلِى فِى ٱلْبُطُونِ
44:45 like the dregs of oil, it shall boil in their bellies, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:46 كَغَلْىِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
44:46 like the boiling of hot water. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:47 خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
44:47 [A voice will cry], "Seize him and drag him into the midst of Hell. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:48 ثُمَّ صُبُّوا۟ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
44:48 Then pour boiling water over his head as punishment. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:49 ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ
44:49 Taste this; you who considered yourself the mighty, the honourable! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:50 إِنَّ هَـٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمْتَرُونَ
44:50 This is what you doubted?" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:51 إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ
44:51 But those mindful of God will be in a safe place, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:52 فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
44:52 among gardens and springs, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:53 يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
44:53 dressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, and they will face each other: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:54 كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
44:54 so it will be. We shall wed them to maidens with large, dark eyes. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:55 يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ
44:55 They will call therein for every kind of fruit, in peace and security. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:56 لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ إِلَّا ٱلْمَوْتَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
44:56 They will not taste death therein, save the first death. God will save them from the torment of Hell - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:57 فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
44:57 as an act of grace. That will be the supreme triumph. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:58 فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَـٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
44:58 We have made this Quran easy to understand, in your own language, so that they may take heed. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

44:59 فَٱرْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ
44:59 Wait then; they too are waiting. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
