بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
26:1
طسٓمٓ
26:1
Ta Sin Mim - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:2
تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
26:2
Those are the signs of the Manifest Book. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:3
لَعَلَّكَ بَـٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ
26:3
Perchance thou consumest thyself that they are not believers. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:4
إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَـٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَـٰضِعِينَ
26:4
If We will, We shall send down on them out of heaven a sign, so their necks will stay humbled to it. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:5
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ
26:5
But never fresh remembrance comes to them from the All-merciful, except they turn away from it. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:6
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
26:6
So they have cried lies; therefore assuredly tidings will come to them of that they mocked at. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:7
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ
26:7
What, have they not regarded the earth, how many therein We have caused to grow of every generous kind? - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:8
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:8
Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:9
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:9
Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:10
وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئْتِ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
26:10
And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:11
قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ
26:11
the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:12
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ
26:12
He said, 'My Lord, I fear they will cry me lies, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:13
وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِى وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِى فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَـٰرُونَ
26:13
and my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be loosed; so send to Aaron. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:14
وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ
26:14
They also have a sin against me, and I fear they will slay me.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:15
قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَٱذْهَبَا بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ
26:15
Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:16
فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:16
So go you to Pharaoh, and say, "Verily, I am the Messenger of the Lord of all Being; - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:17
أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:17
so send forth with us the Children of Israel." - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:18
قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ
26:18
He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:19
وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِى فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
26:19
And thou didst the deed thou didst, being one of the ungrateful!' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:20
قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
26:20
Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:21
فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
26:21
so I fled from you, fearing you. But my Lord gave me Judgment and made me one of the Envoys. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:22
وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:22
That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:23
قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:23
Pharaoh said, 'And what is the Lord of all Being?' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:24
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
26:24
He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:25
قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ
26:25
Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:26
قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:26
He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:27
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ
26:27
Said he, 'Surely your Messenger who was sent to you is possessed!' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:28
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
26:28
He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:29
قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذْتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَ
26:29
Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:30
قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍ مُّبِينٍ
26:30
He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:31
قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
26:31
Said he, 'Bring it then, if thou art of the truthful.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:32
فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ
26:32
So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:33
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
26:33
And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it was white to the beholders. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:34
قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ
26:34
Said he to the Council about him, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:35
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ
26:35
who desires to expel you from your land by his sorcery; what do you command?' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:36
قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبْعَثْ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ
26:36
They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:37
يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ
26:37
to bring thee every cunning sorcerer. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:38
فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
26:38
So the sorcerers were assembled for the appointed time of a fixed day. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:39
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ
26:39
The people were asked, 'Will you assemble? - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:40
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
26:40
Haply we shall follow the sorcerers if it should be they are the victors.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:41
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
26:41
Then, when the sorcerers came, they said to Pharaoh, 'Shall we indeed have a wage, if we should be the victors?' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:42
قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
26:42
He said, 'Yes indeed; and you shall then be among the near-stationed.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:43
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ
26:43
Moses said to them, 'Cast you down what you will cast.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:44
فَأَلْقَوْا۟ حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
26:44
So they cast their ropes and their staffs, and said, 'By the might of Pharaoh we shall be the victors.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:45
فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ
26:45
Then Moses cast his staff and lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention; - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:46
فَأُلْقِىَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَـٰجِدِينَ
26:46
so the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:47
قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:47
They said, 'We believe in the Lord of all Being, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:48
رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
26:48
the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:49
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَـٰفٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
26:49
Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed him before I gave you leave. Why, he is the chief of you, the same that taught you sorcery; now you shall know! I shall assuredly cut off alternately your hands and feet, then I shall crucify you all together.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:50
قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ
26:50
They said, 'There is no harm; surely unto our Lord we are turning. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:51
إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰيَـٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:51
We are eager that our Lord should forgive us our offences, for that we are the first of the believers.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:52
۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِىٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
26:52
Also We revealed unto Moses, 'Go with My servants by night; surely you will be followed.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:53
فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ
26:53
Then Pharaoh sent among the cities musterers: - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:54
إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ
26:54
'Behold, these are a small troop, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:55
وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَ
26:55
and indeed they are enraging us; - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:56
وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَـٰذِرُونَ
26:56
and we are a host on our guard.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:57
فَأَخْرَجْنَـٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
26:57
So We expelled them from gardens and fountains, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:58
وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
26:58
and treasures and a noble station; - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:59
كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:59
even so, and We bequeathed them upon the Children of Israel. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:60
فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ
26:60
Then they followed them at the sunrise; - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:61
فَلَمَّا تَرَٰٓءَا ٱلْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ
26:61
and, when the two hosts sighted each other, the companions of Moses said, 'We are overtaken!' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:62
قَالَ كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ
26:62
Said he, 'No indeed; surely my Lord is with me; He will guide me.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:63
فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَٱلطَّوْدِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
26:63
Then We revealed to Moses, 'Strike with thy staff the sea'; and it clave, and each part was as a mighty mount. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:64
وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
26:64
And there We brought the others on, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:65
وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
26:65
and We delivered Moses and those with him all together; - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:66
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
26:66
then We drowned the others. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:67
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:67

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ

And recite to them the tiding of Abraham - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:70
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ
26:70
when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:71
قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِينَ
26:71
They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:72
قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ
26:72
He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:73
أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ
26:73
or do they profit you, or harm?' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:74
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ
26:74
They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:75
قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
26:75
He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:76
أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَ
26:76
you and your fathers, the elders? - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:77
فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:77
They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:78
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ
26:78
who created me, and Himself guides me, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:79
وَٱلَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ
26:79
and Himself gives me to eat and drink, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:80
وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
26:80
and, whenever I am sick, heals me, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:81
وَٱلَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ
26:81
who makes me to die, then gives me life, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:82
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
26:82
and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:83
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
26:83
My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:84
وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
26:84
and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:85
وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
26:85
Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:86
وَٱغْفِرْ لِأَبِىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
26:86
and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:87
وَلَا تُخْزِنِى يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ
26:87
Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:88
يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ
26:88
the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:89
إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
26:89
except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:90
وَأُزْلِفَتِ ٱلْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
26:90
And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:91
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ
26:91
and Hell advanced for the perverse. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:92
وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
26:92
It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:93
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ
26:93
apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:94
فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَ
26:94
Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:95
وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ
26:95
and the hosts of Iblis, all together. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:96
قَالُوا۟ وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ
26:96
They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:97
تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
26:97
'By God, we were certainly in manifest error - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:98
إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:98
when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. - A. J. Arberry (English)
26:99
وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
26:99
It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; - A. J. Arberry (English)

فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَـٰفِعِينَ

وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

۞ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلْأَرْذَلُونَ

قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِى بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

He said, 'What knowledge have I of that they have been doing? - A. J. Arberry (English)

إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّى ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ

Their account falls only upon my Lord, were you but aware. - A. J. Arberry (English)

وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

I would not drive away the believers; - A. J. Arberry (English)

إِنْ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

'I am naught but a plain warner.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَرْجُومِينَ

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِ

He said, 'My Lord, my people have cried me lies, - A. J. Arberry (English)

فَٱفْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِى وَمَن مَّعِىَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ

So We delivered him, and those with him, in the laden ship, - A. J. Arberry (English)

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ
26:120

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ

أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَـٰمٍ وَبَنِينَ

وَجَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ

إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ

وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَـٰرِهِينَ

Will you still skilfully hew houses out of the mountains? - A. J. Arberry (English)

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:150

وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ

and obey not the commandment of the prodigal - A. J. Arberry (English)

ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ
26:152

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ

They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; - A. J. Arberry (English)

مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ

thou art naught but a mortal, like us; then produce a sign, if thou art one of the truthful.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ

He said, 'This is a she-camel; to her a draught and to you a draught, on a day appointed, - A. J. Arberry (English)

وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

and do not touch her with malice so that there seize you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِينَ

فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ

قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْرَجِينَ

قَالَ إِنِّى لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَالِينَ

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ

وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ

وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ

وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ

قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ مُّبِينٍ

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ

فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ

كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَـٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, - A. J. Arberry (English)

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ

who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement - A. J. Arberry (English)

فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, - A. J. Arberry (English)

فَيَقُولُوا۟ هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ

and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ

What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? - A. J. Arberry (English)

أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ سِنِينَ

What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, - A. J. Arberry (English)

ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ

then there comes on them that they were promised, - A. J. Arberry (English)

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُمَتَّعُونَ

what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? - A. J. Arberry (English)

وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ

Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners - A. J. Arberry (English)

ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ

for a reminder; and never did We wrong. - A. J. Arberry (English)

وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ

Not by the Satans has it been brought down; - A. J. Arberry (English)

وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ

هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ

تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ

يُلْقُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَـٰذِبُونَ

وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلْغَاوُۥنَ

وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ
26:227
Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will he overturned. - A. J. Arberry (English)
