بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

26:1 طسٓمٓ
26:1 Ta Sin Mim - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:2 تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
26:2 Those are the signs of the Manifest Book. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:3 لَعَلَّكَ بَـٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ
26:3 Perchance thou consumest thyself that they are not believers. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:4 إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَـٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَـٰضِعِينَ
26:4 If We will, We shall send down on them out of heaven a sign, so their necks will stay humbled to it. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:5 وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ
26:5 But never fresh remembrance comes to them from the All-merciful, except they turn away from it. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:6 فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
26:6 So they have cried lies; therefore assuredly tidings will come to them of that they mocked at. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:7 أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ
26:7 What, have they not regarded the earth, how many therein We have caused to grow of every generous kind? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:8 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:8 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:9 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:9 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:10 وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئْتِ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
26:10 And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:11 قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ
26:11 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:12 قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ
26:12 He said, 'My Lord, I fear they will cry me lies, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:13 وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِى وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِى فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَـٰرُونَ
26:13 and my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be loosed; so send to Aaron. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:14 وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ
26:14 They also have a sin against me, and I fear they will slay me.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:15 قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَٱذْهَبَا بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ
26:15 Said He, 'No indeed; but go, both of you, with Our signs, and We assuredly shall be with you, listening. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:16 فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:16 So go you to Pharaoh, and say, "Verily, I am the Messenger of the Lord of all Being; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:17 أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:17 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:18 قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ
26:18 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:19 وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِى فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
26:19 And thou didst the deed thou didst, being one of the ungrateful!' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:20 قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
26:20 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:21 فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
26:21 so I fled from you, fearing you. But my Lord gave me Judgment and made me one of the Envoys. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:22 وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:22 That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:23 قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:23 Pharaoh said, 'And what is the Lord of all Being?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:24 قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
26:24 He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:25 قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ
26:25 Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:26 قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:26 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:27 قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ
26:27 Said he, 'Surely your Messenger who was sent to you is possessed!' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:28 قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
26:28 He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:29 قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذْتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَ
26:29 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:30 قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍ مُّبِينٍ
26:30 He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:31 قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
26:31 Said he, 'Bring it then, if thou art of the truthful.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:32 فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ
26:32 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:33 وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
26:33 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it was white to the beholders. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:34 قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ
26:34 Said he to the Council about him, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:35 يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ
26:35 who desires to expel you from your land by his sorcery; what do you command?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:36 قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبْعَثْ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ
26:36 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:37 يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ
26:37 to bring thee every cunning sorcerer. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:38 فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
26:38 So the sorcerers were assembled for the appointed time of a fixed day. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:39 وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ
26:39 The people were asked, 'Will you assemble? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:40 لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
26:40 Haply we shall follow the sorcerers if it should be they are the victors.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:41 فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
26:41 Then, when the sorcerers came, they said to Pharaoh, 'Shall we indeed have a wage, if we should be the victors?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:42 قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
26:42 He said, 'Yes indeed; and you shall then be among the near-stationed.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:43 قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ
26:43 Moses said to them, 'Cast you down what you will cast.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:44 فَأَلْقَوْا۟ حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
26:44 So they cast their ropes and their staffs, and said, 'By the might of Pharaoh we shall be the victors.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:45 فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ
26:45 Then Moses cast his staff and lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:46 فَأُلْقِىَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَـٰجِدِينَ
26:46 so the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:47 قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:47 They said, 'We believe in the Lord of all Being, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:48 رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
26:48 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:49 قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَـٰفٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
26:49 Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed him before I gave you leave. Why, he is the chief of you, the same that taught you sorcery; now you shall know! I shall assuredly cut off alternately your hands and feet, then I shall crucify you all together.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:50 قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ
26:50 They said, 'There is no harm; surely unto our Lord we are turning. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:51 إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰيَـٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:51 We are eager that our Lord should forgive us our offences, for that we are the first of the believers.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:52 ۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِىٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
26:52 Also We revealed unto Moses, 'Go with My servants by night; surely you will be followed.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:53 فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَـٰشِرِينَ
26:53 Then Pharaoh sent among the cities musterers: - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:54 إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ
26:54 'Behold, these are a small troop, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:55 وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَآئِظُونَ
26:55 and indeed they are enraging us; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:56 وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَـٰذِرُونَ
26:56 and we are a host on our guard.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:57 فَأَخْرَجْنَـٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
26:57 So We expelled them from gardens and fountains, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:58 وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
26:58 and treasures and a noble station; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:59 كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:59 even so, and We bequeathed them upon the Children of Israel. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:60 فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ
26:60 Then they followed them at the sunrise; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:61 فَلَمَّا تَرَٰٓءَا ٱلْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ
26:61 and, when the two hosts sighted each other, the companions of Moses said, 'We are overtaken!' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:62 قَالَ كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ
26:62 Said he, 'No indeed; surely my Lord is with me; He will guide me.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:63 فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَٱلطَّوْدِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
26:63 Then We revealed to Moses, 'Strike with thy staff the sea'; and it clave, and each part was as a mighty mount. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:64 وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
26:64 And there We brought the others on, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:65 وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
26:65 and We delivered Moses and those with him all together; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:66 ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
26:66 then We drowned the others. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:67 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
26:67 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:68 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
26:68 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:69 وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
26:69 And recite to them the tiding of Abraham - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:70 إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ
26:70 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:71 قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِينَ
26:71 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:72 قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ
26:72 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:73 أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ
26:73 or do they profit you, or harm?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:74 قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ
26:74 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:75 قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
26:75 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:76 أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَ
26:76 you and your fathers, the elders? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:77 فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:77 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:78 ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ
26:78 who created me, and Himself guides me, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:79 وَٱلَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ
26:79 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:80 وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
26:80 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:81 وَٱلَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ
26:81 who makes me to die, then gives me life, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:82 وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
26:82 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:83 رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
26:83 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:84 وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
26:84 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:85 وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
26:85 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:86 وَٱغْفِرْ لِأَبِىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
26:86 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:87 وَلَا تُخْزِنِى يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ
26:87 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:88 يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ
26:88 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:89 إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
26:89 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:90 وَأُزْلِفَتِ ٱلْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
26:90 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:91 وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ
26:91 and Hell advanced for the perverse. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:92 وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
26:92 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:93 مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ
26:93 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:94 فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَ
26:94 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:95 وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ
26:95 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:96 قَالُوا۟ وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ
26:96 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:97 تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
26:97 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:98 إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:98 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:99 وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
26:99 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:100 فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَـٰفِعِينَ
26:100 so now we have no intercessors, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:101 وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ
26:101 no loyal friend. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:102 فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

26:103 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

26:106 إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
26:106 when their brother Noah said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:107 إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
26:107 I am for you a faithful Messenger, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:108 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

26:109 وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

26:110 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

26:111 ۞ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلْأَرْذَلُونَ
26:111 They said, 'Shall we believe thee, whom the vilest follow?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:112 قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِى بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
26:112 He said, 'What knowledge have I of that they have been doing? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:113 إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّى ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ
26:113 Their account falls only upon my Lord, were you but aware. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:114 وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:114 I would not drive away the believers; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:115 إِنْ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
26:115 'I am naught but a plain warner.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:116 قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَرْجُومِينَ
26:116 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Noah, thou shalt assuredly be one of the stoned.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:117 قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِ
26:117 He said, 'My Lord, my people have cried me lies, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:118 فَٱفْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِى وَمَن مَّعِىَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:118 so give true deliverance between me and them, and deliver me and the believers that are with me. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:119 فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
26:119 So We delivered him, and those with him, in the laden ship, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:120 ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ
26:120 then afterwards We drowned the rest. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:121 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

26:125 إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
26:125 I am for you a faithful Messenger, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:126 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

26:127 وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

26:128 أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةً تَعْبَثُونَ
26:128 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:129 وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ
26:129 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:130 وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ
26:130 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:131 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:131 So fear you God, and obey you me; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:132 وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ
26:132 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:133 أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَـٰمٍ وَبَنِينَ
26:133 succoured you with flocks and sons, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:134 وَجَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
26:134 gardens and fountains. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:135 إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
26:135 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:136 قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ
26:136 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:137 إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:137 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:138 وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
26:138 and we shall not be chastised.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:139 فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

26:147 فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

26:148 وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ
26:148 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:149 وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَـٰرِهِينَ
26:149 Will you still skilfully hew houses out of the mountains? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:150 فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
26:150 So fear you God, and obey you me; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:151 وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
26:151 and obey not the commandment of the prodigal - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:152 ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ
26:152 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:153 قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ
26:153 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:154 مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
26:154 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; then produce a sign, if thou art one of the truthful.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:155 قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
26:155 He said, 'This is a she-camel; to her a draught and to you a draught, on a day appointed, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:156 وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
26:156 and do not touch her with malice so that there seize you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:157 فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِينَ
26:157 But they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:158 فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

26:165 أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
26:165 What, do you come to male beings, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:166 وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ
26:166 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:167 قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَـٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْرَجِينَ

26:168 قَالَ إِنِّى لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَالِينَ
26:168 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:169 رَبِّ نَجِّنِى وَأَهْلِى مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ
26:169 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:170 فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
26:170 So We delivered him and his people all together, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:171 إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ
26:171 save an old woman among those that tarried; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:172 ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
26:172 then We destroyed the others, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:173 وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
26:173 and We rained on them a rain; and evil is the rain of them that are warned. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:174 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

26:175 وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

26:181 ۞ أَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْسِرِينَ

26:182 وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ
26:182 and weigh with the straight balance, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:183 وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ
26:183 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:184 وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:184 Fear Him who created you, and the generations of the ancients.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:185 قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ
26:185 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:186 وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ

26:187 فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ

26:188 قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
26:188 He said, 'My Lord knows very well what you are doing.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:189 فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
26:189 But they cried him lies; then there seized them the chastisement of the Day of Shadow; assuredly it was the chastisement of a dreadful day. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:190 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

26:194 عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ
26:194 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:195 بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ مُّبِينٍ
26:195 in a clear, Arabic tongue. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:196 وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
26:196 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:197 أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
26:197 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:198 وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ
26:198 If We had sent it down on a barbarian - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:199 فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ
26:199 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:200 كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَـٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
26:200 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:201 لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ
26:201 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:202 فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
26:202 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:203 فَيَقُولُوا۟ هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ
26:203 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:204 أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
26:204 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:205 أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ سِنِينَ
26:205 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:206 ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ
26:206 then there comes on them that they were promised, - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:207 مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُمَتَّعُونَ
26:207 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:208 وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ
26:208 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:209 ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
26:209 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:210 وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ
26:210 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:211 وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
26:211 it behoves them not, neither are they able. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:212 إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ
26:212 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:213 فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَ
26:213 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:214 وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ
26:214 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:215 وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
26:215 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:216 فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
26:216 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:217 وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
26:217 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:218 ٱلَّذِى يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
26:218 who sees thee when thou standest - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:219 وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِى ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
26:219 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:220 إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
26:220 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:221 هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ
26:221 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:222 تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ
26:222 They come down on every guilty impostor. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:223 يُلْقُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَـٰذِبُونَ
26:223 They give ear, but most of them are liars. - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:224 وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلْغَاوُۥنَ
26:224 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:225 أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ
26:225 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:226 وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ
26:226 and how they say that which they do not? - A. J. Arberry (English)

26:227 إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ
26:227 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will he overturned. - A. J. Arberry (English)
