بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
85:1
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ
85:1
I swear by the mansions of the stars, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:2
وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ
85:2
And the promised day, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:3
وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
85:3
And the bearer of witness and those against whom the witness is borne. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:4
قُتِلَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ
85:4
Cursed be the makers of the pit, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:5
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ
85:5
Of the fire (kept burning) with fuel, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:6
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ
85:6
When they sat by it, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:7
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ
85:7
And they were witnesses of what they did with the believers. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:8
وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ
85:8
And they did not take vengeance on them for aught except that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praised, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:9
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
85:9
Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness of all things. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:10
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ
85:10
Surely (as for) those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, then do not repent, they shall have the chastisement of hell, and they shall have the chastisement of burning. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:11
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ
85:11
Surely (as for) those who believe and do good, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow, that is the great achievement. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:12
إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
85:12
Surely the might of your Lord is great. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:13
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
85:13
Surely He it is Who originates and reproduces, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:14
وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ
85:14
And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:15
ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ
85:15
Lord of the Arsh, the Glorious, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:16
فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
85:16
The great doer of what He will. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:17
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ
85:17
Has not there come to you the story of the hosts, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:18
فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ
85:18
Of Firon and Samood? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:19
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ
85:19
Nay! those who disbelieve are in (the act of) giving the lie to the truth. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:20
وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ
85:20
And Allah encompasses them on every side. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:21
بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ
85:21
Nay! it is a glorious Quran, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
85:22
فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ
85:22
In a guarded tablet. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
