بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
85:1
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ
85:1
By the sky with its constellations, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:2
وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ
85:2
and by the promised Day, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:3
وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
85:3
by the Witness and the witnessed, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:4
قُتِلَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ
85:4
destroyed were the people of the trench, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:5
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ
85:5
the makers of the fuel-stoked fire! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:6
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ
85:6
They sat by it - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:7
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ
85:7
to watch what they were doing to the believers, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:8
وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ
85:8
whom they hated for no other reason than that they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:9
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
85:9
to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. God is witness over all things. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:10
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ
85:10
Those who persecute the believing men and believing women, and then do not repent, will surely suffer the punishment of Hell, and the torment of burning. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:11
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ
85:11
But those who believe and do good deeds shall be rewarded with gardens watered by flowing rivers. That is the supreme triumph. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:12
إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
85:12
The grip of your Lord is indeed severe, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:13
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
85:13
it is He who begins and repeats [His creation], - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:14
وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ
85:14
and He is the Forgiving and Loving One. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:15
ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ
85:15
The Lord of the Glorious Throne, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:16
فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
85:16
Executor of His own will. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:17
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ
85:17
Have you not heard the story of the hosts - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:18
فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ
85:18
of Pharaoh and Thamud? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:19
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ
85:19
Yet those who deny the truth persist in denial. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:20
وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ
85:20
God encompasses them from all sides. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:21
بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ
85:21
It is indeed a glorious Quran, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
85:22
فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ
85:22
