87 Al-'A`lá ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
87:1 سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى
87:1

Magnify the Name of thy Lord the Most High
87:2 ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ
87:2

who created and shaped,
87:3 وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ
87:3

who determined and guided,
87:4 وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ

who brought forth the pasturage
87:5 فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ
87:5

then made it a blackening wrack.
87:6 سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ
87:6
A. J. Arberry (English) :
We shall make thee recite, to forget not
87:7 إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ
87:7

save what God wills; surely He knows what is spoken aloud and what is hidden.
87:8 وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
87:8
A. J. Arberry (English) :
We shall ease thee unto the Easing.
87:9 فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
87:9

Therefore remind, if the Reminder profits,
87:10 سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ
87:10

and he who fears shall remember,
87:11 وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى
87:11
A. J. Arberry (English) :
but the most wretched shall flout it,
87:12 ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
87:12
A. J. Arberry (English) :
even he who shall roast in the Great Fire,
87:13 ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ
87:13
A. J. Arberry (English) :
then he shall neither die therein, nor live.
87:14 قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ
87:14

Prosperous is he who has cleansed himself,
87:15 وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ
87:15

and mentions the Name of his Lord, and prays.
87:16 بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
87:16

Nay, but you prefer the present life;
87:17 وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ
87:17

and the world to come is better, and more enduring.
87:18 إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ
87:18

Surely this is in the ancient scrolls,
87:19 صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ
87:19

the scrolls of Abraham and Moses.
