بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
83:1
وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ
83:1
Woe unto the defrauders: - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:2
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ
83:2
Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:3
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ
83:3
But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:4
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ
83:4
Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:5
لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
83:5
Unto an Awful Day, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:6
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
83:6
The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:7
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ
83:7
Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:8
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ
83:8
Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:9
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:9

83:10
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
83:10
Woe unto the repudiators on that day! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:11
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
83:11
Those who deny the Day of Judgment - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:12
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
83:12
Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:13
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
83:13
Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:14
كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
83:14
Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:15
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ
83:15
Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:16
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
83:16
Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:17
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
83:17
And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:18
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ
83:18
Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:19
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
83:19
Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:20
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:20
A written record, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:21
يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:21
Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:22
إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
83:22
Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:23
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:23
On couches, gazing, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:24
تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
83:24
Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:25
يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ
83:25
They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:26
خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ
83:26
Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ
83:27
And mixed with water of Tasnim, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:28
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:28
A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:29
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:29
Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
83:30
And wink one to another when they passed them; - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:31
وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ
83:31
And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:32
وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
83:32
And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:33
وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ
83:33
Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:34
فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:34
This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:35
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:35
On high couches, gazing. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
83:36
هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
83:36
Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
