بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
83:1
وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ
83:1
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:2
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ
83:2
Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:3
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ
83:3
And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:4
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ
83:4
Do they not think that they will be resurrected, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:5
لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
83:5
On a Great Day - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:6
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
83:6
The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of all that exists - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:7
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ
83:7
Nay! Truly, the Record of the wicked is in Sijjin. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:8
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ
83:8
And what will make you know what Sijjin is - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:9
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:9
A Register inscribed. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:10
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
83:10
Woe, that Day, to those who deny. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:11
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
83:11
Those who deny the Day of Recompense. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:12
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
83:12
And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, the sinner! - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:13
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
83:13
When Our Ayat are recited to him, he says: "Tales of the ancients!" - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:14
كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
83:14
Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering) which they used to earn. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:15
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ
83:15
Nay! Surely, they will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:16
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
83:16
Then verily, they will indeed enter the burning flame of Hell. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:17
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
83:17
Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:18
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ
83:18
Nay! Verily, the Record of Al-Abrar (the righteous believers) is (preserved) in `Illiyyin. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:19
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
83:19
And what will make you know what `Illiyyin is - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:20
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:20
A Register inscribed, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:21
يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:21
To which bear witness those nearest. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:22
إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
83:22
Verily, Al-Abrar (the righteous believers) will be in Delight. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:23
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:23
On thrones, looking. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:24
تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
83:24
You will recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:25
يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ
83:25
They will be given to drink of pure sealed Rahiq. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:26
خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ
83:26
Sealed with musk, and for this let those strive who want to strive. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:27
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ
83:27
It will be mixed with Tasnim: - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:28
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:28
A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:29
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:29
Verily, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:30
وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
83:30
And, whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:31
وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ
83:31
And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:32
وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
83:32
And when they saw them, they said: "Verily, these have indeed gone astray!" - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:33
وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ
83:33
But they were not sent as watchers over them. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:34
فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:34
But this Day those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:35
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:35
On thrones, looking. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
83:36
هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
83:36
Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
