بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
83:1
وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ
83:1
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:2
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ
83:2
Who insist on being given full when they take from others, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:3
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ
83:3
Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:4
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ
83:4
Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:5
لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
83:5
On a grievous day, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:6
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
83:6
The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:7
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ
83:7
Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:8
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ
83:8
How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:9
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:9
It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:10
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
83:10
Ah the woe that day for those who deny, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:11
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
83:11
Who call the Day of judgement a lie! - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:12
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
83:12
None denies it but the sinful transgressors. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:13
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
83:13
When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:14
كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
83:14
No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:15
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ
83:15
Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:16
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
83:16
Then they will indeed burn in Hell. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:17
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
83:17
They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:18
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ
83:18
Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:19
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
83:19
But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:20
كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
83:20
It is a (repository of) distinctly written record - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:21
يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:21
Witnessed by those who are honoured. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:22
إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
83:22
Verily the pious will be in heaven, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:23
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:23
On couches face to face. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:24
تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
83:24
On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:25
يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ
83:25
They will be served the choicest wine, sealed - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:26
خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ
83:26
With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:27
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ
83:27
Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:28
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
83:28
A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:29
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:29
The sinners indeed laughed at believers - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:30
وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
83:30
And winked at one another as they passed by them; - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:31
وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ
83:31
And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:32
وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
83:32
And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:33
وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ
83:33
But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:34
فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ
83:34
So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:35
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
83:35
Regarding them from their cushioned seats. - Ahmed Ali (English)
83:36
هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
83:36
Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? - Ahmed Ali (English)
