بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
84:1
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتْ
84:1
When the sky is rent asunder - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:2
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
84:2
and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:3
وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ
84:3
and when the earth is stretched out - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:4
وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ
84:4
and casts out what is within it and is emptied, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:5
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
84:5
and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:6
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَـٰقِيهِ
84:6
O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:7
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ
84:7
Whoever is given the Record in his right hand - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:8
فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا
84:8
shall be called to an easy accounting, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:9
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا
84:9
and shall return to his people joyfully. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:10
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ
84:10
But he who is given the Record behind his back, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:11
فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًا
84:11
shall cry for “perdition,” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:12
وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
84:12
and will enter the Blazing Fire. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:13
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا
84:13
He used to live joyfully among his people, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:14
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
84:14
thinking he would never revert (to Us). - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:15
بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًا
84:15
But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:16
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ
84:16
Nay; I swear by the twilight; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:17
وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
84:17
and by the night and what it enfolds, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:18
وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ
84:18
and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:19
لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ
84:19
you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:20
فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
84:20
So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:21
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩
84:21
and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:22
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ
84:22
Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:23
وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
84:23
Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:24
فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
84:24
So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
84:25
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ
84:25
except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
