بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

54:1 ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ
54:1 The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:2 وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ
54:2 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:3 وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
54:3 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:4 وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ
54:4 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:5 حِكْمَةٌۢ بَـٰلِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ
54:5 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:6 فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍ نُّكُرٍ
54:6 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:7 خُشَّعًا أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ
54:7 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:8 مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ
54:8 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:9 ۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌ وَٱزْدُجِرَ
54:9 The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:10 فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌ فَٱنتَصِرْ
54:10 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:11 فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ
54:11 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:12 وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ
54:12 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:13 وَحَمَلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٰحٍ وَدُسُرٍ
54:13 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:14 تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ
54:14 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:15 وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَـٰهَآ ءَايَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:15 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:16 فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:16 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:17 وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:17 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:18 كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:18 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:19 إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ
54:19 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:20 تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ
54:20 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:21 فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:21 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:22 وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ

54:23 كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:23 (The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:24 فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
54:24 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:25 أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ
54:25 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:26 سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ
54:26 (Unto their warner it was said): To-morrow they will know who is the rash liar. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:27 إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ
54:27 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:28 وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ
54:28 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Every drinking will be witnessed. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:29 فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ
54:29 But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her). - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:30 فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:30 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:31 إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً فَكَانُوا۟ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ
54:31 Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:32 وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:32 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:33 كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:33 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:34 إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَـٰهُم بِسَحَرٍ
54:34 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:35 نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ
54:35 As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:36 وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:36 And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:37 وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:37 They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:38 وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
54:38 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:39 فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:39 Now taste My punishment after My warnings! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:40 وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:40 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:41 وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ
54:41 And warnings came in truth unto the house of Pharaoh - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:42 كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ
54:42 Who denied Our revelations, every one. Therefore We grasped them with the grasp of the Mighty, the Powerful. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:43 أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
54:43 Are your disbelievers better than those, or have ye some immunity in the scriptures? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:44 أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ
54:44 Or say they: We are a host victorious? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:45 سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ
54:45 The hosts will all be routed and will turn and flee. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:46 بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ
54:46 Nay, but the Hour (of doom) is their appointed tryst, and the Hour will be more wretched and more bitter (than their earthly failure). - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:47 إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
54:47 Lo! the guilty are in error and madness. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:48 يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ
54:48 On the day when they are dragged into the Fire upon their faces (it is said unto them): Feel the touch of hell. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:49 إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَـٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ
54:49 Lo! We have created every thing by measure. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:50 وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ
54:50 And Our commandment is but one (commandment), as the twinkling of an eye. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:51 وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:51 And verily We have destroyed your fellows; but is there any that remembereth? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:52 وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
54:52 And every thing they did is in the scriptures, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:53 وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ
54:53 And every small and great thing is recorded. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:54 إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَهَرٍ
54:54 Lo! the righteous will dwell among gardens and rivers, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

54:55 فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ
54:55 Firmly established in the favour of a Mighty King. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
