بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
54:1
ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ
54:1
The Hour has drawn near and the moon is split. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:2
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ
54:2
If they see a sign, they turn away, and say, ‘An incessant magic!’ - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:3
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
54:3
They denied and followed their own desires, and every matter has a setting [appropriate to it]. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:4
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ
54:4
There have already come to them reports containing admonishment, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:5
حِكْمَةٌۢ بَـٰلِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ
54:5
[and representing] far-reaching wisdom; but warnings are of no avail! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:6
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍ نُّكُرٍ
54:6
So turn away from them! The day when the Caller calls to a dire thing, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:7
خُشَّعًا أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ
54:7
they will emerge from the graves as if they were scattered locusts with a humbled look [in their eyes], - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:8
مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ
54:8
scrambling toward the summoner. The faithless will say, ‘This is a hard day!’ - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:9
۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌ وَٱزْدُجِرَ
54:9
The people of Noah impugned before them. So they impugned Our servant and said, ‘A crazy man,’ and he was reviled. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:10
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌ فَٱنتَصِرْ
54:10
Thereat he invoked his Lord, [saying,] ‘I have been overcome, so help [me].’ - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:11
فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ
54:11
Then We opened the gates of the sky with pouring waters, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:12
وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ
54:12
and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and the waters met for a preordained purpose. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:13
وَحَمَلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٰحٍ وَدُسُرٍ
54:13
We bore him on a vessel made of planks and nails, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:14
تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ
54:14
which sailed [over the flood waters] in Our sight, as a retribution for him who was met with disbelief. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:15
وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَـٰهَآ ءَايَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:15
Certainly We have left it as a sign; so is there anyone who will be admonished? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:16
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:16
So how were My punishment and warnings? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:17
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:17
Certainly We have made the Quran simple for the sake of admonishment. So is there anyone who will be admonished? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:18
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:18
[The people of] ‘Ad impugned [their apostle]. So how were My punishment and warnings? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:19
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ
54:19
Indeed We unleashed upon them an icy gale on an incessantly ill-fated day, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:20
تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ
54:20
knocking down people as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:21
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:21
So how were My punishment and warnings?! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:22
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:22
Certainly We have made the Quran simple for the sake of admonishment. So is there anyone who will be admonished? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:23
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:23
[The people of] Thamud denied the warnings, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:24
فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
54:24
and they said, ‘Are we to follow a lone human from ourselves?! Indeed then we would be in error and madness.’ - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:25
أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ
54:25
‘Has the Reminder been cast upon him from among us? No, he is a self-conceited liar.’ - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:26
سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ
54:26
‘Tomorrow they will know who is a self-conceited liar. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:27
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ
54:27
We are sending the She-camel as a trial for them; so watch them and be steadfast. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:28
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ
54:28
Inform them that the water is to be shared between them; each of them showing up at his turn.’ - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:29
فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ
54:29
But they called their companion, and he took [a knife] and hamstrung [her]. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:30
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:30
So how were My punishment and My warnings?! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:31
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً فَكَانُوا۟ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ
54:31
We sent against them a single Cry, and they became like the dry sticks of a corral builder. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:32
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:32
Certainly We have made the Quran simple for the sake of admonishment. So is there anyone who will be admonished? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:33
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:33
And the people of Lot denied the warnings. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:34
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَّجَّيْنَـٰهُم بِسَحَرٍ
54:34
We unleashed upon them a rain of stones, excepting the family of Lot, whom We delivered at dawn - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:35
نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ
54:35
as a blessing from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:36
وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
54:36
He had already warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:37
وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:37
They even solicited of him his guests, whereat We blotted out their eyes, [saying,] ‘Taste My punishment and My warnings!’ - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:38
وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
54:38
Early at dawn there visited them an abiding punishment: - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:39
فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
54:39
‘Taste My punishment and warnings!’ - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:40
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:40
Certainly We have made the Quran simple for the sake of admonishment. So is there anyone who will be admonished? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:41
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ
54:41
Certainly the warnings did come to Pharaoh’s clan - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:42
كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ
54:42
who denied all of Our signs. So We seized them with the seizing of One [who is] all-mighty, Omnipotent. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:43
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
54:43
Are your faithless better than those? Have you [been granted] [some sort of] immunity in the scriptures? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:44
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ
54:44
Do they say, ‘We are a confederate league’? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:45
سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ
54:45
The league will be routed and turn its back [to flee]. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:46
بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ
54:46
Indeed, the Hour is their tryst; and the Hour will be most calamitous and bitter. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:47
إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
54:47
Indeed the guilty are steeped in error and madness. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:48
يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ
54:48
The day when they are dragged on their faces into the Fire, [it will be said to them,] ‘Taste the touch of hell!’ - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:49
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَـٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ
54:49
Indeed We have created everything in a measure, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:50
وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ
54:50
and Our command is but a single [word], like the twinkling of an eye. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:51
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
54:51
Certainly We have destroyed your likes. So is there anyone who will be admonished? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:52
وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
54:52
Everything they have done is in the books, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:53
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ
54:53
and everything big and small is committed to writing. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:54
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَهَرٍ
54:54
Indeed the Godwary will be amid gardens and streams, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
54:55
فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ
54:55
in the abode of truthfulness with an omnipotent King. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
