بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

51:1 وَٱلذَّٰرِيَـٰتِ ذَرْوًا
51:1 By the winds which scatter dust, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:2 فَٱلْحَـٰمِلَـٰتِ وِقْرًا
51:2 which carry clouds laden with water, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:3 فَٱلْجَـٰرِيَـٰتِ يُسْرًا
51:3 which then smoothly speed along, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:4 فَٱلْمُقَسِّمَـٰتِ أَمْرًا
51:4 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:5 إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَصَادِقٌ
51:5 surely what you are being warned against is true, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:6 وَإِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ لَوَٰقِعٌ
51:6 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:7 وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْحُبُكِ
51:7 By the heaven with its numerous forms: - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:8 إِنَّكُمْ لَفِى قَوْلٍ مُّخْتَلِفٍ
51:8 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:9 يُؤْفَكُ عَنْهُ مَنْ أُفِكَ
51:9 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:10 قُتِلَ ٱلْخَرَّٰصُونَ
51:10 Doomed are the conjecturers - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:11 ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى غَمْرَةٍ سَاهُونَ
51:11 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:12 يَسْـَٔلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
51:12 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:13 يَوْمَ هُمْ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ يُفْتَنُونَ
51:13 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:14 ذُوقُوا۟ فِتْنَتَكُمْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
51:14 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:15 إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
51:15 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:16 ءَاخِذِينَ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُحْسِنِينَ
51:16 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:17 كَانُوا۟ قَلِيلًا مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ مَا يَهْجَعُونَ
51:17 they used to sleep but little by night, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:18 وَبِٱلْأَسْحَارِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
51:18 and would ask for forgiveness at dawn, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:19 وَفِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّ لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ
51:19 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:20 وَفِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ءَايَـٰتٌ لِّلْمُوقِنِينَ
51:20 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:21 وَفِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ
51:21 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:22 وَفِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزْقُكُمْ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ
51:22 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:23 فَوَرَبِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقٌّ مِّثْلَ مَآ أَنَّكُمْ تَنطِقُونَ
51:23 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:24 هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلْمُكْرَمِينَ
51:24 (O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:25 إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمًا ۖ قَالَ سَلَـٰمٌ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ
51:25 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:26 فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ فَجَآءَ بِعِجْلٍ سَمِينٍ
51:26 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:27 فَقَرَّبَهُۥٓ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ
51:27 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:28 فَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ ۖ وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ عَلِيمٍ
51:28 Then he became afraid of them. They said: “Fear not,” and announced to him the good news of (the birth of) a boy endowed with knowledge. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:29 فَأَقْبَلَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ فِى صَرَّةٍ فَصَكَّتْ وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٌ
51:29 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:30 قَالُوا۟ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
51:30 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:31 ۞ قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
51:31 Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:32 قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ
51:32 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:33 لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن طِينٍ
51:33 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:34 مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ
51:34 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:35 فَأَخْرَجْنَا مَن كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
51:35 Then We evacuated there from all the believers - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:36 فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
51:36 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:37 وَتَرَكْنَا فِيهَآ ءَايَةً لِّلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ
51:37 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:38 وَفِى مُوسَىٰٓ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
51:38 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:39 فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكْنِهِۦ وَقَالَ سَـٰحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ
51:39 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:40 فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ
51:40 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:41 وَفِى عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلرِّيحَ ٱلْعَقِيمَ
51:41 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:42 مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَىْءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتْهُ كَٱلرَّمِيمِ
51:42 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:43 وَفِى ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
51:43 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:44 فَعَتَوْا۟ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
51:44 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:45 فَمَا ٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟ مِن قِيَامٍ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنتَصِرِينَ
51:45 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:46 وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا فَـٰسِقِينَ
51:46 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:47 وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بَنَيْنَـٰهَا بِأَيْي۟دٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ
51:47 And heaven – We made it with Our Own Power and We have the Power to do so. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:48 وَٱلْأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَـٰهَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْمَـٰهِدُونَ
51:48 And the earth – We spread it out, and how well have We smoothed it! - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:49 وَمِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
51:49 And of everything We have created pairs; perhaps you will take heed. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:50 فَفِرُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
51:50 Flee, therefore, to Allah. Surely I am a clear warner to you from Him; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:51 وَلَا تَجْعَلُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
51:51 and do not set up any deity with Allah. Surely I am a clear warner to you from Him. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:52 كَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَتَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُوا۟ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ
51:52 Thus has it been (in the past): never did a Messenger come to the nations that preceded them but they said: “(He is) a sorcerer, or a mad-man.” - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:53 أَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِهِۦ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ
51:53 Have they arrived at a common understanding concerning this? No; but they are a people given to transgression. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:54 فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِمَلُومٍ
51:54 So turn your attention away from them; you shall incur no blame. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:55 وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ تَنفَعُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
51:55 Do, however, keep exhorting them; for exhortation benefits those endowed with faith. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:56 وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ
51:56 I created the jinn and humans for nothing else but that they may serve Me; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:57 مَآ أُرِيدُ مِنْهُم مِّن رِّزْقٍ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَن يُطْعِمُونِ
51:57 I desire from them no provision, nor do I want them to feed Me. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:58 إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلرَّزَّاقُ ذُو ٱلْقُوَّةِ ٱلْمَتِينُ
51:58 Surely Allah is the Bestower of all provision, the Lord of all power, the Strong. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:59 فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذَنُوبًا مِّثْلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصْحَـٰبِهِمْ فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ
51:59 The wrong-doers shall receive a portion of the chastisements as their fellows (of yore). So let them not rush Me. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)

51:60 فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن يَوْمِهِمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ
51:60 Woe, then, betide those who disbelieved in that Day of theirs which they are being asked to hold in dread. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
