Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
52:1
وَٱلطُّورِ
52:1
By the Mount, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:2
وَكِتَـٰبٍ مَّسْطُورٍ
52:2
And a Scripture inscribed - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:3
فِى رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ
52:3
On fine parchment unrolled, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:4
وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ
52:4
And the House frequented, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:5
وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ
52:5
And the roof exalted, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:6
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ
52:6
And the sea kept filled, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:7
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌ
52:7
Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:8
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍ
52:8
There is none that can ward it off. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:9
يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًا
52:9
On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:10
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا
52:10
And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:11
فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
52:11
Then woe that day unto the deniers - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:12
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ
52:12
Who play in talk of grave matters; - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:13
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
52:13
The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:14
هَـٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ
52:14
(And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:15
أَفَسِحْرٌ هَـٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
52:15
Is this magic, or do ye not see? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:16
ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
52:16
Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:17
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ
52:17
Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:18
فَـٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
52:18
Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:19
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
52:19
(And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:20
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
52:20
Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:21
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَـٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَـٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ
52:21
And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:22
وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰهُم بِفَـٰكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
52:22
And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:23
يَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ
52:23
There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:24
۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
52:24
And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:25
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
52:25
And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:26
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ
52:26
Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:27
فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ
52:27
But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:28
إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
52:28
Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:29
فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ
52:29
Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:30
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ
52:30
Or say they: (he is) a poet, (one) for whom we may expect the accident of time? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:31
قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ
52:31
Say (unto them): Except (your fill)! Lo! I am with you among the expectant. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:32
أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَـٰمُهُم بِهَـٰذَآ ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ
52:32
Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:33
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ
52:33
Or say they: He hath invented it? Nay, but they will not believe! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:34
فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِينَ
52:34
Then let them produce speech the like thereof, if they are truthful. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:35
أَمْ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ
52:35
Or were they created out of naught? Or are they the creators? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:36
أَمْ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ
52:36
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:37
أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ
52:37
Or do they own the treasures of thy Lord? Or have they been given charge (thereof)? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:38
أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
52:38
Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:39
أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَـٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ
52:39
Or hath He daughters whereas ye have sons? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:40
أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ
52:40
Or askest thou (Muhammad) a fee from them so that they are plunged in debt? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:41
أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
52:41
Or possess they the Unseen so that they can write (it) down? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:42
أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ
52:42
Or seek they to ensnare (the messenger)? But those who disbelieve, they are the ensnared! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:43
أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
52:43
Or have they any god beside Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)! - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:44
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كِسْفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ
52:44
And if they were to see a fragment of the heaven falling, they would say: A heap of clouds. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:45
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ
52:45
Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:46
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
52:46
A day in which their guile will naught avail them, nor will they be helped. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:47
وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
52:47
And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a punishment beyond that. But most of them know not. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:48
وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
52:48
So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
52:49
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَـٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ
52:49
And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
