بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
52:1
وَٱلطُّورِ
52:1
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:2
وَكِتَـٰبٍ مَّسْطُورٍ
52:2
And the Scripture inscribed - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:3
فِى رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ
52:3
On a parchment scroll unrolled, - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:4
وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ
52:4
The house ever-peopled, - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:5
وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ
52:5
The roof raised high, - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:6
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ
52:6
And the swollen sea, - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:7
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌ
52:7
The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:8
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍ
52:8
There is none who could avert it. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:9
يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًا
52:9
The day the sky will tremble, - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:10
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا
52:10
The mountains move and fly away, - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:11
فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
52:11
Will be the day of woe for those - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:12
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ
52:12
Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:13
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
52:13
The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:14
هَـٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ
52:14
(And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:15
أَفَسِحْرٌ هَـٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
52:15
Is it magic, or you cannot see? - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:16
ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
52:16
Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:17
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ
52:17
Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:18
فَـٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
52:18
Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:19
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
52:19
"Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:20
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
52:20
They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:21
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَـٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَـٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ
52:21
And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:22
وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰهُم بِفَـٰكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
52:22
We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:23
يَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ
52:23
They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:24
۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
52:24
And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:25
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
52:25
They will ask each other questions, - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:26
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ
52:26
Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:27
فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ
52:27
But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:28
إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
52:28
We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:29
فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ
52:29
Remind them, therefore, that by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor possessed. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:30
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ
52:30
Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:31
قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ
52:31
Tell them: "Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you." - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:32
أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَـٰمُهُم بِهَـٰذَآ ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ
52:32
Does their reasoning prompt them to this, or they are a people rebellious? - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:33
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ
52:33
Or do they say: "He has fabricated it?" In fact, they will never believe. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:34
فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِينَ
52:34
So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:35
أَمْ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ
52:35
Or were they created of themselves? Or are they the creators? - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:36
أَمْ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ
52:36
Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:37
أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ
52:37
Do they possess the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the treasurers? - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:38
أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
52:38
Or do they have a ladder (climbing which) they can hear (the secrets of heaven)? Let one who has heard then bring a clear proof. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:39
أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَـٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ
52:39
Has (God) daughters and they sons? - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:40
أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ
52:40
Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense? - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:41
أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
52:41
Or do they have knowledge of the Unknown which they write down? - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:42
أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ
52:42
Or do they want to stage a deception? -- Then only those who do not believe will be the ones who will be tricked. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:43
أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
52:43
Or do they have a god apart from God? He is too exalted for what they associate with Him! - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:44
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كِسْفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ
52:44
If they should see a segment falling from the sky, they would say: "It is only a massive cloud." - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:45
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ
52:45
So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:46
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
52:46
Their deception will not avail them in the least on that day, nor will they be helped. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:47
وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
52:47
Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know. - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:48
وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
52:48
Await the judgement of your Lord, for you are always before Our eyes, and glorify your Lord with praises when you rise, - Ahmed Ali (English)
52:49
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَـٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ
52:49
And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane. - Ahmed Ali (English)
