بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
53:1
وَٱلنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ
53:1
By the star when it goes down. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:2
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ
53:2
Your companion has neither gone astray nor has he erred. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:3
وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ
53:3
Nor does he speak of desire. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:4
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْىٌ يُوحَىٰ
53:4
It is only a revelation revealed. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:5
عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلْقُوَىٰ
53:5
He has been taught by one mighty in power. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:6
ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ
53:6
Dhu Mirrah then he Istawa. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:7
وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
53:7
While he was in the highest part of the horizon, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:8
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ
53:8
Then he approached and came closer, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:9
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ
53:9
And was at a distance of two bows' length or less. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:10
فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ مَآ أَوْحَىٰ
53:10
So (Allah) revealed to His servant whatever He revealed. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:11
مَا كَذَبَ ٱلْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ
53:11
The heart lied not in what he saw. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:12
أَفَتُمَـٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ
53:12
Will you then dispute with him about what he saw - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:13
وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ
53:13
And indeed he saw him at a second descent. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:14
عِندَ سِدْرَةِ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
53:14
Near Sidrat Al-Muntaha. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:15
عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ
53:15
Near it is the Paradise of Abode. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:16
إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ
53:16
When that covered the lote tree which did cover it! - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:17
مَا زَاغَ ٱلْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ
53:17
The sight turned not aside, nor it transgressed beyond the limit. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:18
لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ
53:18
Indeed he saw of the greatest Ssgns of his Lord. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:19
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱللَّـٰتَ وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ
53:19
Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-`Uzza. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:20
وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ
53:20
And Manat, the other third - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:21
أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:21
Is it for you the males and for Him the females - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:22
تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰٓ
53:22
That indeed is a division most unfair! - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:23
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
53:23
They are but names which you have named - you and your fathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the guidance from their Lord! - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:24
أَمْ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ
53:24
Or shall man have what he wishes - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:25
فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ
53:25
But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:26
۞ وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغْنِى شَفَـٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْضَىٰٓ
53:26
And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing, except after Allah has given leave for whom He wills and is pleased with. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:27
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:27
Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:28
وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْـًٔا
53:28
But they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but conjecture, and verily, conjecture is no substitute for the truth. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:29
فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
53:29
Therefore withdraw from him who turns away from Our Reminder and desires nothing but the life of this world. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:30
ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ
53:30
That is what they could reach of knowledge. Verily, your Lord is He, Who knows best him who goes astray from His path, and He knows best him who receives guidance. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:31
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـُٔوا۟ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ بِٱلْحُسْنَى
53:31
And to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, that He may requite those who do evil with that which they have done, and reward those who do good, with what is best. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:32
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٰسِعُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓ
53:32
Those who avoid great sins and Al-Fawahish (immoral sins) except Al-Lamam -- verily, your Lord is of vast forgiveness. He knows you well when He created you from the earth (Adam), and when you were fetuses in your mothers' wombs. So, ascribe not purity to yourselves. He knows best him who has Taqwa. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:33
أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ
53:33
Did you observe him who turned away (from Islam). - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:34
وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَىٰٓ
53:34
And gave a little, then stopped - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:35
أَعِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ
53:35
Is with him the knowledge of the Unseen so that he sees - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:36
أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِى صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ
53:36
Or is he not informed with what is in the Suhuf of Musa, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:37
وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلَّذِى وَفَّىٰٓ
53:37
And of Ibrahim who fulfilled all that: - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:38
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ
53:38
That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:39
وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ
53:39
And that man can have nothing but what he does. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:40
وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ
53:40
And that his deeds will be seen. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:41
ثُمَّ يُجْزَىٰهُ ٱلْجَزَآءَ ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ
53:41
Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:42
وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
53:42
And that to your Lord is the End. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:43
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ
53:43
And that it is He Who makes laugh, and makes weep. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:44
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا
53:44
And that it is He Who causes death and gives life. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:45
وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:45
And that He creates the pairs, male and female, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:46
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ
53:46
From Nutfah when it is emitted. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:47
وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ
53:47
And that upon Him is another bringing forth (Resurrection). - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:48
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ
53:48
And that it is He Who Aghna and Aqna. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:49
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ
53:49
And that He is the Lord of Ash-Shi`ra. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:50
وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْأُولَىٰ
53:50
And that it is He Who destroyed the former `Ad, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:51
وَثَمُودَا۟ فَمَآ أَبْقَىٰ
53:51
And Thamud. He spared none of them. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:52
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ
53:52
And the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily, they were more unjust and more rebellious and transgressing. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:53
وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ
53:53
And He destroyed the overthrown cities. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:54
فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ
53:54
So, there covered them that which did cover. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:55
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ
53:55
Then which of the graces of your Lord will you doubt - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:56
هَـٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ
53:56
This is a warner from the warners of old. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:57
أَزِفَتِ ٱلْـَٔازِفَةُ
53:57
The Azifah draws near. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:58
لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ
53:58
None besides Allah can avert it. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:59
أَفَمِنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ
53:59
Do you then wonder at this reci- tation - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:60
وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ
53:60
And you laugh at it and weep not, - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:61
وَأَنتُمْ سَـٰمِدُونَ
53:61
While you are Samidun. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
53:62
فَٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ۩
53:62
So fall you down in prostration to Allah and worship Him. - Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri (English)
