بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
53:1
وَٱلنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ
53:1
By the star when it setteth. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:2
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ
53:2
Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:3
وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ
53:3
And he speaketh not of his own desire. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:4
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْىٌ يُوحَىٰ
53:4
It is but a revelation revealed. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:5
عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلْقُوَىٰ
53:5
One of mighty powers hath taught it him. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:6
ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ
53:6
One strong of make. Then he stood straight. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:7
وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
53:7
While he was on the uppermost horizon. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:8
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ
53:8
Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:9
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ
53:9
Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:10
فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ مَآ أَوْحَىٰ
53:10
Thus He revealed Unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:11
مَا كَذَبَ ٱلْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ
53:11
The heart lied not in that which he saw. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:12
أَفَتُمَـٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ
53:12
Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath Seen? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:13
وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ
53:13
And assuredly he saw him at another descent. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:14
عِندَ سِدْرَةِ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
53:14
Nigh Unto the lote-tree at the boundary. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:15
عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ
53:15
Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:16
إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ
53:16
When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:17
مَا زَاغَ ٱلْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ
53:17
The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:18
لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ
53:18
Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:19
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱللَّـٰتَ وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ
53:19
Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:20
وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ
53:20
And Manat the other third? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:21
أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:21
What!-Unto YOu the males and Unto Him the females? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:22
تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰٓ
53:22
That indeed is a division unfair! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:23
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
53:23
They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come Unto them from their Lord the guidance. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:24
أَمْ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ
53:24
Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:25
فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ
53:25
Allah's is the last and the first. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:26
۞ وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغْنِى شَفَـٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْضَىٰٓ
53:26
And many soever are angels in the heavens whose intercession shall not avail at all save after Allah hath given leave for whomsoever He listeth and pleaseth. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:27
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:27
Verily those who believe not in the Hereafter name the angels with the names of females. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:28
وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْـًٔا
53:28
And they have no knowledge thereof; they follow but a vain opinion, and verily a vain opinion attaineth not aught of the truth. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:29
فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
53:29
Wherefore withdraw thou from him who turneth away from Our admonition and seeketh not but the life of the world. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:30
ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ
53:30
That is their highest point of knowledge. Verily thine Lord! it is He Who is the Best Knower of him who strayeth from His way, and He is the Best Knower of him who letteth himself be guided. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:31
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـُٔوا۟ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ بِٱلْحُسْنَى
53:31
And Allah's is whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, that He may recompense those who do evil for that which they worked and reward those who do good with good. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:32
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٰسِعُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓ
53:32
They are those who avoid enormities of sin and abominations save the minor offences. Verily thy Lord is of vast for giveness: He is Best Knower of you when He produced you out Of the earth, and when ye were embryos in the bellies of your mothers. So justify not yourselves; He is the Best Knower of him who feareth Him. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:33
أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ
53:33
Observedest thou him who turned away? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:34
وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَىٰٓ
53:34
And gave little, and then stopped? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:35
أَعِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ
53:35
Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:36
أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِى صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ
53:36
Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:37
وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلَّذِى وَفَّىٰٓ
53:37
And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:38
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ
53:38
To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:39
وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ
53:39
And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:40
وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ
53:40
And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:41
ثُمَّ يُجْزَىٰهُ ٱلْجَزَآءَ ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ
53:41
Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:42
وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
53:42
And that Unto thy Lord is the goal. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:43
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ
53:43
And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:44
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا
53:44
And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:45
وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:45
And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:46
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ
53:46
From seed when it is emitted. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:47
وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ
53:47
And that upon Him is another bringing forth. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:48
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ
53:48
And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:49
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ
53:49
And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:50
وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْأُولَىٰ
53:50
And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:51
وَثَمُودَا۟ فَمَآ أَبْقَىٰ
53:51
And that Thamud! He left not. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:52
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ
53:52
And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:53
وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ
53:53
And the subverted cities He overthrew. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:54
فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ
53:54
Then covered them with that which covered them. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:55
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ
53:55
Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:56
هَـٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ
53:56
This is a warner of the warners of old. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:57
أَزِفَتِ ٱلْـَٔازِفَةُ
53:57
There hath approached the approaching Hour. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:58
لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ
53:58
None, except Allah, can avert it. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:59
أَفَمِنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ
53:59
At this discourse then marvel ye? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:60
وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ
53:60
And laugh and not weep? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:61
وَأَنتُمْ سَـٰمِدُونَ
53:61
And ye are behaving proudly. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
53:62
فَٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ۩
53:62
So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
