بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
53:1
وَٱلنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ
53:1
By the declining star, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:2
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ
53:2
your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:3
وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ
53:3
He does not speak out of his own desires. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:4
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْىٌ يُوحَىٰ
53:4
It is a revelations which has been revealed to him - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:5
عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلْقُوَىٰ
53:5
and taught to him - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:6
ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ
53:6
by the great mighty one (Gabriel), - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:7
وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
53:7
the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:8
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ
53:8
He (Gabriel) then came nearer and nearer. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:9
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ
53:9
until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:10
فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ مَآ أَوْحَىٰ
53:10
He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:11
مَا كَذَبَ ٱلْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ
53:11
His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:12
أَفَتُمَـٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ
53:12
Will you then argue with him about what he saw? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:13
وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ
53:13
He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:14
عِندَ سِدْرَةِ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
53:14
to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:15
عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ
53:15
near which is Paradise. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:16
إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ
53:16
When the tree was covered with a covering, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:17
مَا زَاغَ ٱلْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ
53:17
(Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:18
لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ
53:18
He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:19
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱللَّـٰتَ وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ
53:19
(Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:20
وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ
53:20
and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:21
أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:21
Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:22
تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰٓ
53:22
This is an unfair distinction! - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:23
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
53:23
These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:24
أَمْ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ
53:24
Can the human being have whatever he wishes? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:25
فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ
53:25
All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:26
۞ وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغْنِى شَفَـٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْضَىٰٓ
53:26
There are many angels in the heavens whose intercession will be of no benefit unless God grants such permission to whichever of them He wants. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:27
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:27
Only those who do not believe in the life hereafter call the angels, females. They have no knowledge about it. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:28
وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْـًٔا
53:28
They only follow mere conjecture which can never sufficiently replace the Truth. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:29
فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
53:29
(Muhammad), stay away from those who turn away from Our guidance and who do not desire anything except the worldly life. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:30
ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ
53:30
This is what the extent of their knowledge amounts to. Your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His path and who has been rightly guided. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:31
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـُٔوا۟ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ بِٱلْحُسْنَى
53:31
To God belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. In the end God will re-compense the evil doers for their deeds and reward the righteous ones for their deeds. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:32
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٰسِعُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓ
53:32
Those who stay away from grave sins and indecency (should know that) for their trivial sins your Lord's forgiveness is vast. He knows best about you. When He created you from the earth and when you were embryos in your mother's wombs. Do not consider yourselves very great. God knows best who is the most righteous person. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:33
أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ
53:33
(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:34
وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَىٰٓ
53:34
and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:35
أَعِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ
53:35
Does he possess the knowledge of the unseen, thus, he sees (all things)? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:36
أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِى صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ
53:36
Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:37
وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلَّذِى وَفَّىٰٓ
53:37
and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:38
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ
53:38
Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:39
وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ
53:39
nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:40
وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ
53:40
He will certainly see the result of his labor - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:41
ثُمَّ يُجْزَىٰهُ ٱلْجَزَآءَ ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ
53:41
and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:42
وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ
53:42
To your Lord will all things eventually return. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:43
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ
53:43
It is He who causes laughter and weeping. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:44
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا
53:44
It is He who causes death and gives life. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:45
وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ
53:45
It is He who has created spouses, male and female, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:46
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ
53:46
from a discharged living germ - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:47
وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ
53:47
and on Him depends the life hereafter. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:48
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ
53:48
It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:49
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ
53:49
It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:50
وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْأُولَىٰ
53:50
It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:51
وَثَمُودَا۟ فَمَآ أَبْقَىٰ
53:51
Thamud, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:52
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ
53:52
and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:53
وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ
53:53
It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:54
فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ
53:54
and covered them with torment. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:55
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ
53:55
About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:56
هَـٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ
53:56
This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:57
أَزِفَتِ ٱلْـَٔازِفَةُ
53:57
The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:58
لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ
53:58
No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:59
أَفَمِنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ
53:59
Does this statement seem strange to them - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:60
وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ
53:60
and do they laugh instead of weeping, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:61
وَأَنتُمْ سَـٰمِدُونَ
53:61
indulging in carelessly idle games? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
53:62
فَٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ۩
53:62
So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
