بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
37:1 وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفًّا
37:1 I CALL TO witness those who stand arrayed in rows, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:2 فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًا
37:2 And those who restrain by reprimanding, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:3 فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا
37:3 And those who recite the Reminder, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:4 إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌ
37:4 Verily your God is One, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:5 رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ
37:5 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, and the Lord of the Easts. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:6 إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ
37:6 He decked the nearest heavens with ornaments of stars, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:7 وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ
37:7 Protecting them against every wayward devil, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:8 لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ
37:8 So that they are not able to listen to the angels of higher (echelons), and are pelted from all sides - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:9 دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ
37:9 And kept far away. There is perpetual punishment for them, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:10 إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ
37:10 Except those who eavesdrop and are pursued by a shooting flame. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:11 فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ
37:11 So ask them if they are more difficult to create, or the rest We have created? Indeed (man) We created from fermented clay. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:12 بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ
37:12 Yet while you are filled with wonder, they just scoff; - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:13 وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ
37:13 And when they are warned they pay no heed. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:14 وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ
37:14 When they see a sign, they laugh at it, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:15 وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ
37:15 And say: "This is only magic. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:16 أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
37:16 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, how can we be raised again, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:17 أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
37:17 And our fathers too?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:18 قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ
37:18 You say: "Yes; and you will be lowly made." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:19 فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
37:19 There will only be a single jerk, and they will gape, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:20 وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
37:20 And say: "Ah woe! This is the Day of Reckoning." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:21 هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
37:21 "(Yes,) this is the Day of Judgement you had called a lie." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:22 ۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ
37:22 Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:23 مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:23 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:24 وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ
37:24 And detain them, for they will be questioned." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:25 مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ
37:25 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:26 بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ
37:26 They will submit to questioning then, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:27 وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
37:27 And some of them will confront the others, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:28 قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
37:28 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:29 قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ
37:29 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:30 وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَـٰغِينَ
37:30 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:31 فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ
37:31 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:32 فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِينَ
37:32 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:33 فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ
37:33 So, they will become partners in punishment. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:34 إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
37:34 That is how We deal with sinners. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:35 إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
37:35 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:36 وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍۭ
37:36 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:37 بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:37 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:38 إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ
37:38 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:39 وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
37:39 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:40 إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:40 Except the chosen creatures of God, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:41 أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
37:41 Whose provision is predetermined -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:42 فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ
37:42 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:43 فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
37:43 In gardens of delight, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:44 عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
37:44 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:45 يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ
37:45 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:46 بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ
37:46 Clear, delicious to drink, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:47 لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ
37:47 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:48 وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌ
37:48 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:49 كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
37:49 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:50 فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
37:50 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:51 قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌ
37:51 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:52 يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ
37:52 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:53 أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ
37:53 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:54 قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ
37:54 He said: 'Will you look down?' - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:55 فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:55 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:56 قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ
37:56 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:57 وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ
37:57 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:58 أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ
37:58 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:59 إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
37:59 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:60 إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
37:60 This will indeed be great happiness. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:61 لِمِثْلِ هَـٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَ
37:61 For this the toilers should strive." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:62 أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
37:62 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:63 إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
37:63 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:64 إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:64 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:65 طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ
37:65 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:66 فَإِنَّهُمْ لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
37:66 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:67 ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ
37:67 Washing it down with boiling water. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:68 ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:68 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:69 إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ
37:69 They had found their fathers astray, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:70 فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ
37:70 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:71 وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:71 So had many an earlier people gone astray, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:72 وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
37:72 And We had sent admonishers to them. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:73 فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
37:73 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:74 إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:74 Other than the chosen creatures of God. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:75 وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ
37:75 Noah had verily called to Us. And how gracious was He who answered (him). - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:76 وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
37:76 We saved him and his family from the great affliction, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:77 وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ
37:77 And made his progeny survive, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:78 وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:78 And left (his name) for posterity. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:79 سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:79 Peace on Noah among all men. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:80 إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:80 That is how We reward those who do good. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:81 إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:81 Surely he was among Our faithful creatures. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:82 ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
37:82 Afterwards We drowned the others. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:83 ۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ
37:83 And Abraham indeed was of his inducement, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:84 إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
37:84 When he came to his Lord with a heart compliant, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:85 إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ
37:85 When he said to his father and his people: "What is this you worship? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:86 أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةً دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ
37:86 Why do you solicit false gods instead of God? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:87 فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:87 What do you imagine the Lord of the worlds to be?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:88 فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ
37:88 Then he looked up at the stars (they worshipped), - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:89 فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌ
37:89 And said: "I am sick (of what you worship)!" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:90 فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ
37:90 But they turned their backs on him and went away. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:91 فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ
37:91 Then he turned towards their gods and said: "Why do you not eat (of these offerings)? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:92 مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ
37:92 What is wrong with you that you do not speak?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:93 فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ
37:93 Then he started striking them down with his right hand. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:94 فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ
37:94 So the people descended upon him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:95 قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ
37:95 "Why do you worship these you carve yourselves," he asked, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:96 وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
37:96 "When God has created you and what you make?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:97 قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَـٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:97 "Build a pyre for him and throw him into the raging fire." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:98 فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ
37:98 So they contrived a plot against him, but We made them abject. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:99 وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ
37:99 And he said: "I am going away to my Lord who will show me the way. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:100 رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
37:100 (And he prayed:) "O Lord, grant me a righteous son." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:101 فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِيمٍ
37:101 So We gave him the good news of a clement son. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:102 فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَـٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
37:102 When he was old enough to go about with him, he said: "O my son, I dreamt that I was sacrificing you. Consider, what you think?" He replied: "Father, do as you are commanded. If God pleases you will find me firm." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:103 فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ
37:103 When they submitted to the will of God, and (Abraham) laid (his son) down prostrate on his temple, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:104 وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
37:104 We called out: "O Abraham, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:105 قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:105 You have fulfilled your dream." Thus do We reward the good. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:106 إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ
37:106 That was indeed a trying test. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:107 وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ
37:107 So We ransomed him for a great sacrifice, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:108 وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:108 And left (his hallowed memory) for posterity. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:109 سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
37:109 Peace be on Abraham. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:110 كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:110 That is how We reward those who do good. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:111 إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:111 He is truly among Our faithful creatures. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:112 وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِإِسْحَـٰقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
37:112 So We gave him the good news of Isaac, apostle, who is among the righteous. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:113 وَبَـٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ
37:113 And We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants are some who do good, but some who wrong themselves. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:114 وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
37:114 We were indeed gracious to Moses and Aaron, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:115 وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
37:115 And saved them and their people from great distress, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:116 وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
37:116 And helped them, so they were victorious. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:117 وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ
37:117 We gave them the explicit Book, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:118 وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
37:118 And showed them the straight path, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:119 وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:119 And left (their remembrance) for posterity. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:120 سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
37:120 Peace be on Moses and Aaron. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:121 إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:121 That is how We reward those who do good. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:122 إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:122 They are among Our faithful devotees. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:123 وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:123 Verily Elias is one of the apostles. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:124 إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
37:124 When he said to his people: "Will you not be mindful of God? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:125 أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ
37:125 Would you call on Baal and leave the best of creators, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:126 ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:126 God, your Lord, and the Lord of your fathers?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:127 فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
37:127 They denied him, and will surely be brought to punishment, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:128 إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:128 Except the chosen creatures of God. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:129 وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:129 And We left his (memory) for posterity. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:130 سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ
37:130 Peace be on Elias. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:131 إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:131 That is how We reward those who do good. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:132 إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:132 He is truly among Our faithful devotees. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:133 وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:133 Verily Lot was one of the apostles, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:134 إِذْ نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
37:134 Wherefore We saved him and his entire family - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:135 إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ
37:135 Except an old woman who was one of those who stayed behind. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:136 ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
37:136 Then We destroyed the others. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:137 وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ
37:137 You pass by (their habitations) in the morning - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:138 وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
37:138 Or at night. Then how is it you do not understand? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:139 وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:139 Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:140 إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
37:140 When he fled on the laden ship, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:141 فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ
37:141 And lots were cast (when a storm overtook them), he was rejected, (and thrown overboard). - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:142 فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ
37:142 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:143 فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ
37:143 Had he not been one of those who struggled hard, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:144 لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
37:144 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:145 ۞ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ
37:145 So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:146 وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ
37:146 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:147 وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ
37:147 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:148 فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
37:148 And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:149 فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ
37:149 Now ask them if their Lord has daughters, and they sons? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:150 أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَـٰثًا وَهُمْ شَـٰهِدُونَ
37:150 Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:151 أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ
37:151 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:152 وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
37:152 "God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed! - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:153 أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ
37:153 Does He prefer sons to daughters? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:154 مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
37:154 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:155 أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
37:155 Why do you not reflect? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:156 أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌ مُّبِينٌ
37:156 Or have you received some clear authority? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:157 فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
37:157 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:158 وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
37:158 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:159 سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
37:159 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:160 إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:160 Except His chosen creatures who do not. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:161 فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ
37:161 So neither you nor those you worship - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:162 مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَـٰتِنِينَ
37:162 Can mislead anyone away from Him, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:163 إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:163 Except one who is (destined) to burn in Hell. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:164 وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
37:164 "There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.) - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:165 وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ
37:165 "And we are truly those who stand in rows, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:166 وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ
37:166 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:167 وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ
37:167 They used to say: - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:168 لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:168 If we had the account of earlier people with us, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:169 لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:169 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:170 فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
37:170 Yet now (that it has come) they refuse to believe in it; but they will come to know soon. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:171 وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:171 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:172 إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ
37:172 That they would be helped, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:173 وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
37:173 And that certainly Our armies will be victorious. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:174 فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
37:174 So you ignore them for a time - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:175 وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
37:175 And wait; they will come to know soon. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:176 أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
37:176 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:177 فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
37:177 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:178 وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
37:178 So turn away from them for a time - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:179 وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
37:179 And watch; they will come to know soon. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:180 سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
37:180 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:181 وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:181 So peace be on the messengers, - Ahmed Ali (English)
37:182 وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:182 And all praise to God, the Lord of all the worlds. - Ahmed Ali (English)
