Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
69:1
ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:1
THE CONCRETE REALITY. - Ahmed Ali (English)

مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:2
What is the concrete reality? - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:3
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:3
What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
69:4
The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:5
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
69:5
So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:6
وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
69:6
And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ
69:7
Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:8
فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ
69:8
Do you see any trace of them? - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:9
وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
69:9
Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:10
فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً
69:10
When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:11
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَـٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
69:11
When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:12
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ
69:12
In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:13
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
69:13
When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:14
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً
69:14
And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:15
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
69:15
On that Day will come what is to come. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:16
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ
69:16
The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:17
وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌ
69:17
On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:18
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ
69:18
You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:19
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:19
He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:20
إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
69:20
I was certain I'll be given my account." - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:21
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
69:21
So he shall have an agreeable life - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:22
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
69:22
In high empyrean - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:23
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ
69:23
With fruits hanging low within reach, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:24
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ
69:24
(And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:25
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:25
But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:26
وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ
69:26
And not known my account! - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:27
يَـٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ
69:27
I wish death had put an end to me. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:28
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ
69:28
Of no use was even my wealth. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:29
هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَـٰنِيَهْ
69:29
Vanished has my power from me." - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:30
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
69:30
"Seize him and manacle him, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:31
ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
69:31
Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:32
ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ
69:32
And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:33
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:33
He did not believe in God the supreme, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:34
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
69:34
Nor urged others to feed the poor. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:35
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ
69:35
That is why he has no friend today, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:36
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ
69:36
Nor food other than suppuration (filth) - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:37
لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَ
69:37
Which none but the hellish eat." - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:38
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:38
So, I call to witness what you see - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:39
وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:39
And what you do not see, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:40
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
69:40
That this is indeed the word of the noble Messenger, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:41
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
69:41
And not the word of a poet. How little is it that you believe! - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:42
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
69:42
Nor is it the word of a soothsayer. Little is it that you reflect! - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:43
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
69:43
It has been sent down by the Lord of all the worlds. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:44
وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ
69:44
Had he attributed falsely any words to Us, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:45
لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ
69:45
We would have seized him by his right hand, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:46
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ
69:46
Then cut off his aorta, - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:47
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَ
69:47
And not one of you would have been able to stop (Us). - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:48
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
69:48
It is really a reminder for those who fear God and follow the straight path. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:49
وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
69:49
We certainly know that some among you do deny it. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:50
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
69:50
It is surely the nemesis of unbelievers. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:51
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
69:51
And He, He is indeed the ultimate Reality. - Ahmed Ali (English)
69:52
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:52
So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. - Ahmed Ali (English)
