Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
69:1
ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:1
The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). - Muhammad Sarwar (English)

مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:2
What is the Inevitable? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:3
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:3
Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
69:4
The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:5
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
69:5
The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:6
وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
69:6
The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ
69:7
which continued to strike them for seven and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:8
فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ
69:8
Can you see any of their survivors? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:9
وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
69:9
The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)

فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً
69:10
They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:11
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَـٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
69:11
When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:12
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ
69:12
as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:13
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
69:13
With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:14
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً
69:14
the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:15
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
69:15
On that day, the inevitable event will take place - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:16
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ
69:16
and the heavens will be rent asunder, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:17
وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌ
69:17
and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:18
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ
69:18
On that day all your secrets will be exposed. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:19
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:19
Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:20
إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
69:20
I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:21
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
69:21
They will have a pleasant life - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:22
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
69:22
in an exalted garden - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:23
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ
69:23
with fruits within easy reach. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:24
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ
69:24
Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:25
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:25
However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:26
وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ
69:26
and that we would never knew what our records contained. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:27
يَـٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ
69:27
Would that death had taken us away for good. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:28
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ
69:28
Our wealth is of no benefit to us - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:29
هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَـٰنِيَهْ
69:29
and our belief has destroyed us". - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:30
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
69:30
The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:31
ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
69:31
then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:32
ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ
69:32
Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:33
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:33
they did not believe in the great God, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:34
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
69:34
nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:35
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ
69:35
On this day, they will have no friends - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:36
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ
69:36
and no food except pus - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:37
لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَ
69:37
which only the sinners eat". - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:38
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:38
I do not need to swear by what you see - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:39
وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:39
and what you do not see - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:40
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
69:40
because the Quran is certainly the word of a reverent messenger. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:41
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
69:41
It is not the word of a poet but only a few of you have faith, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:42
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
69:42
nor is it the work of a soothsayer but only a few of you take heed. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:43
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
69:43
It is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:44
وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ
69:44
Had Muhammad invented some words against Us,. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:45
لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ
69:45
We would have caught hold of him by his right hand - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:46
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ
69:46
and cut-off his main artery. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:47
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَ
69:47
None of you would be able to prevent Us from doing this to him. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:48
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
69:48
The Quran is certainly a reminder for the pious ones. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:49
وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
69:49
We certainly know that some of you have rejected it - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:50
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
69:50
and (on the Day of Judgment) this will be a great source of regret for the unbelievers. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
69:51
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
69:51
This is the Truth beyond any doubt. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:52
(Muhammad), glorify the name of your Lord, the Great One. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
