Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
69:1
ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:1

مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:2
How tremendous is the true event! - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:3
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:3
And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
69:4
The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:5
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
69:5
So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:6
وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
69:6
And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ
69:7
He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days – so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:8
فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ
69:8
So do you see any survivor among them? - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)

وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
69:9
And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:10
فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً
69:10
They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:11
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَـٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
69:11
Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:12
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ
69:12
In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:13
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
69:13
So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:14
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً
69:14
And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:15
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
69:15
So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:16
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ
69:16
And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:17
وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌ
69:17
And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:18
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ
69:18
On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:19
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:19
So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:20
إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
69:20
“I was certain that I will confront my account.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:21
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
69:21
He is therefore in the desired serenity. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
69:22
In a lofty Garden – - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)

قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ
69:23
The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:24
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ
69:24
“Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:25
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:25
And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:26
وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ
69:26
“And had never come to know my account!” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:27
يَـٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ
69:27
“Alas, if only it had been just death.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:28
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ
69:28
“My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:29
هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَـٰنِيَهْ
69:29
“All my power has vanished.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:30
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
69:30
It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:31
ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
69:31
“Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:32
ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ
69:32
“Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:33
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:33
“Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:34
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
69:34
“And did not urge to feed the needy.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:35
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ
69:35
“So he does not have any friend here this day.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:36
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ
69:36
“Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:37
لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَ
69:37
“Which none except the guilty shall eat.” - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:38
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:38
So by oath of the things you see. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:39
وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:39
And by oath of those you do not see. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:40
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
69:40
This Qur’an is the speech of Allah with a gracious Noble Messenger. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:41
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
69:41
And it is not the speech of a poet; how little do you believe! - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:42
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
69:42
Nor is it the speech of a soothsayer; how little do you ponder! - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:43
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
69:43
Sent down by the Lord Of The Creation. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:44
وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ
69:44
And had he fabricated just one matter upon Us – - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:45
لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ
69:45
We would have definitely taken revenge from him. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:46
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ
69:46
Then would have cut off his heart’s artery. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:47
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَ
69:47
Then none among you would be his saviour. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:48
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
69:48
And indeed this Qur’an is an advice for the pious. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:49
وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
69:49
And indeed We know that some among you are deniers. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:50
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
69:50
And indeed it is a despair for the disbelievers. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:51
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
69:51
And indeed it is a certain Truth. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
69:52
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:52
Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), proclaim the purity of your Lord, the Greatest. - Ahmed Raza Khan (English)
