Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
69:1
ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:1
The Inevitable Reality - - Saheeh International (English)
69:2
مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:2
What is the Inevitable Reality? - Saheeh International (English)
69:3
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:3
And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? - Saheeh International (English)
69:4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
69:4
Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. - Saheeh International (English)
69:5
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
69:5
So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. - Saheeh International (English)
69:6
وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
69:6
And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind - Saheeh International (English)
69:7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ
69:7
Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. - Saheeh International (English)
69:8
فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ
69:8
Then do you see of them any remains? - Saheeh International (English)
69:9
وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
69:9
And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. - Saheeh International (English)
69:10
فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً
69:10
And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. - Saheeh International (English)
69:11
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَـٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
69:11
Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship - Saheeh International (English)
69:12
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ
69:12
That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. - Saheeh International (English)
69:13
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
69:13
Then when the Horn is blown with one blast - Saheeh International (English)
69:14
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً
69:14
And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - - Saheeh International (English)
69:15
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
69:15
Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, - Saheeh International (English)
69:16
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ
69:16
And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. - Saheeh International (English)
69:17
وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌ
69:17
And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. - Saheeh International (English)
69:18
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ
69:18
That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. - Saheeh International (English)
69:19
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:19
So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! - Saheeh International (English)
69:20
إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
69:20
Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." - Saheeh International (English)
69:21
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
69:21
So he will be in a pleasant life - - Saheeh International (English)
69:22
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
69:22
In an elevated garden, - Saheeh International (English)
69:23
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ
69:23
Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. - Saheeh International (English)
69:24
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ
69:24
[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." - Saheeh International (English)
69:25
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:25
But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record - Saheeh International (English)
69:26
وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ
69:26
And had not known what is my account. - Saheeh International (English)
69:27
يَـٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ
69:27
I wish my death had been the decisive one. - Saheeh International (English)
69:28
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ
69:28
My wealth has not availed me. - Saheeh International (English)
69:29
هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَـٰنِيَهْ
69:29
Gone from me is my authority." - Saheeh International (English)
69:30
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
69:30
[Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. - Saheeh International (English)
69:31
ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
69:31
Then into Hellfire drive him. - Saheeh International (English)
69:32
ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ
69:32
Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." - Saheeh International (English)
69:33
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:33
Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great, - Saheeh International (English)
69:34
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
69:34
Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. - Saheeh International (English)
69:35
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ
69:35
So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend - Saheeh International (English)
69:36
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ
69:36
Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; - Saheeh International (English)
69:37
لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَ
69:37
None will eat it except the sinners. - Saheeh International (English)
69:38
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:38
So I swear by what you see - Saheeh International (English)
69:39
وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:39
And what you do not see - Saheeh International (English)
69:40
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
69:40
[That] indeed, the Qur'an is the word of a noble Messenger. - Saheeh International (English)
69:41
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
69:41
And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe. - Saheeh International (English)
69:42
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
69:42
Nor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember. - Saheeh International (English)
69:43
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
69:43
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. - Saheeh International (English)
69:44
وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ
69:44
And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings, - Saheeh International (English)
69:45
لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ
69:45
We would have seized him by the right hand; - Saheeh International (English)
69:46
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ
69:46
Then We would have cut from him the aorta. - Saheeh International (English)
69:47
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَ
69:47
And there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him. - Saheeh International (English)
69:48
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
69:48
And indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder for the righteous. - Saheeh International (English)
69:49
وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
69:49
And indeed, We know that among you are deniers. - Saheeh International (English)
69:50
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
69:50
And indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers. - Saheeh International (English)
69:51
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
69:51
And indeed, it is the truth of certainty. - Saheeh International (English)
69:52
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:52
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. - Saheeh International (English)
