بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
88:1
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ
88:1
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:2
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ
88:2
On that Day faces shall be humbled, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:3
عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ
88:3
laboring, wornout, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:4
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً
88:4
roasting at a scorching Fire - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:5
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ
88:5
that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:6
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ
88:6
no food for them except thorny plants - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:7
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ
88:7
which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:8
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ
88:8
(Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:9
لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
88:9
well pleased with their striving, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:10
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
88:10
in a Garden on high, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:11
لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً
88:11
where they will hear no idle talk. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:12
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
88:12
A gushing fountain shall be there - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:13
فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ
88:13
and raised couches, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:14
وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ
88:14
and prepared goblets, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:15
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
88:15
and arranged cushions - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:16
وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
88:16
and outspread carpets. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:17
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
88:17
What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:18
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
88:18
And how the heaven was raised up, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:19
وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
88:19
and how the mountains were firmly fixed? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:20
وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
88:20
And how the earth was outstretched? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:21
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
88:21
Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:22
لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
88:22
You are not charged to oversee them. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:23
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
88:23
As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:24
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ
88:24
Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:25
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ
88:25
Indeed, to Us they shall return, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
88:26
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم
88:26
then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
