بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
88:1
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ
88:1
Hath there come Unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ
88:2
Faces on that Day shall be downcast, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:3
عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ
88:3
Travailing, worn. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:4
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً
88:4
They shall roast into the scalding Fire, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:5
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ
88:5
Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:6
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ
88:6
No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:7
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ
88:7
Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:8
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ
88:8
Faces on that Day shall be de lighted, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:9
لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
88:9
With their endeavour well pleased. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:10
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
88:10
They shall be in a Garden lofty: - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:11
لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً
88:11
They shall hear therein no vain discourse; - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:12
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
88:12
Therein shall be a spring running! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:13
فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ
88:13
Therein shall be couches elevated! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:14
وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ
88:14
And goblets ready placed! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:15
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
88:15
And cushions ranged! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:16
وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
88:16
And carpets ready spread, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:17
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
88:17
Look they not at the camels, how they are created? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:18
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
88:18
And at the heaven, how it is raised? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:19
وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
88:19
And at the mountains, how they are rooted? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:20
وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
88:20
And at the earth, how it is outspread? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:21
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
88:21
Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:22
لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
88:22
Thou art not over them a warden. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:23
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
88:23
But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve - - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:24
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ
88:24
Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:25
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ
88:25
Verily Unto us is their reckoning. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
88:26
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم
88:26
Then verily on us is their reckoning. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
