Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
88:1
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ
88:1
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:2
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ
88:2
Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:3
عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ
88:3
Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:4
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً
88:4

88:5
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ
88:5
They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:6
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ
88:6
No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:7
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ
88:7

88:8
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ
88:8
(Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:9
لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
88:9

88:10
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
88:10

88:11
لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً
88:11
Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:12
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
88:12
Therein will be a running spring, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:13
فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ
88:13
Therein will be thrones raised high, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:14
وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ
88:14

88:15
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
88:15
And cushions set in rows, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:16
وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
88:16
And rich carpets (all) spread out. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:17
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
88:17

88:18
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
88:18
And at the heaven, how it is raised? - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:19
وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
88:19
And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:20
وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
88:20
And at the earth, how it is spread out? - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:21
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
88:21
So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:22
لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
88:22
You are not a dictator over them. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:23
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
88:23
Save the one who turns away and disbelieves - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
88:24
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ
88:24

88:25
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ
88:25
Verily, to Us will be their return; - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم
88:26
