Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
88:1
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ
88:1
Did you receive the account of the Enveloper? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:2
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ
88:2
Some faces on that day will be humbled, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:3
عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ
88:3
wrought-up and weary: - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:4
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً
88:4
they will enter a scorching fire - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:5
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ
88:5
and made to drink from a boiling spring. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:6
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ
88:6
They will have no food except cactus, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:7
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ
88:7
neither nourishing, nor of avail against hunger. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:8
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ
88:8
Some faces on that day will be joyous, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:9
لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
88:9
pleased with their endeavour, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:10
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
88:10
in a lofty garden, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:11
لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً
88:11
where they will not hear any vain talk. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:12
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
88:12
In it is a flowing spring - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:13
فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ
88:13
and raised couches, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:14
وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ
88:14
with goblets set, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:15
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
88:15
and cushions laid out in an array, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:16
وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
88:16
and carpets spread out. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:17
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
88:17
Do they not observe the camel, [to see] how it has been created? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:18
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
88:18
and the sky, how it has been raised? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:19
وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
88:19
and the mountains, how they have been set? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:20
وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
88:20
and the earth, how it has been surfaced? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:21
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
88:21
So admonish—for you are only an admonisher, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:22
لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
88:22
and not a taskmaster over them— - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:23
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
88:23
except him who turns back and disbelieves. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:24
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ
88:24
Him Allah will punish with the greatest punishment. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:25
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ
88:25
Indeed to Us will be their return. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
88:26
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم
88:26
Then, indeed, their reckoning will lie with Us. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
