بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

81:1 إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ
81:1 WHEN THE SUN is folded up, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:2 وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ
81:2 The stars turn dim and scatter, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:3 وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ
81:3 The mountains made to move, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:4 وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ
81:4 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:5 وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ
81:5 The wild beasts stampede on the run, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:6 وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ
81:6 When the oceans surge and swell, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:7 وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ
81:7 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:8 وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ
81:8 And the little girl buried alive is asked - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:9 بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍ قُتِلَتْ
81:9 For what crime she was put to death; - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:10 وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ
81:10 When the ledgers are laid open, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:11 وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ
81:11 The curtain drawn back from the skies, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:12 وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ
81:12 When Hell is set ablaze, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:13 وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ
81:13 And Paradise brought near, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:14 عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ
81:14 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:15 فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ
81:15 So, I call the receding stars to witness, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:16 ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ
81:16 The planets withdrawing into themselves, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:17 وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ
81:17 The closing night, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:18 وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ
81:18 The rising dawn, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:19 إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
81:19 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:20 ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ
81:20 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:21 مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ
81:21 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:22 وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ
81:22 Your companion is not mad. - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:23 وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
81:23 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:24 وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ
81:24 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:25 وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَـٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ
81:25 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:26 فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ
81:26 So whither do you stray? - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:27 إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
81:27 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:28 لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ
81:28 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, - Ahmed Ali (English)

81:29 وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
81:29 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. - Ahmed Ali (English)
