Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
90:1
لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ
90:1
I swear by yonder city - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:2
وَأَنتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ
90:2
And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city - - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:3
وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ
90:3
And by the begetter and that which he begat, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:4
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ فِى كَبَدٍ
90:4
Assuredly We have created man in trouble. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:5
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ
90:5
Deemest he that none will overpower him? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:6
يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا
90:6
He saith: 'I have wasted riches plenteous. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:7
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ
90:7
Deemest he that none beholdeth him? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:8
أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عَيْنَيْنِ
90:8
Have We not, made for him two eyes - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:9
وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ
90:9
And a tongue and two lips, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:10
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ
90:10
And shown Unto him the two highways? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:11
فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ
90:11
Yet he attempteth not the steep, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:12
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْعَقَبَةُ
90:12
And what shall make thee understand that which the steep is? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:13
فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ
90:13
It is freeing the neck, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:14
أَوْ إِطْعَـٰمٌ فِى يَوْمٍ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍ
90:14
Or, feeding, in a day of privation, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:15
يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ
90:15
An orphan, of kin, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:16
أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ
90:16
Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:17
ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ
90:17
Then he became of those who believed and enjoined on each other steadfastness and enjoined on each other compassion. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:18
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
90:18
These are the fellows of the righthand. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
90:19
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
90:19
And those who disbelieve Our signs - they are the fellows of the lefthand. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ
90:20
Over them shall be Fire closing round. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
