Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
68:1
نٓ ۚ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ
68:1
Noon. By the Pen and that (the angels) write, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:2
مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ
68:2
you are not, because of the favor of your Lord, mad. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:3
وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ
68:3
Indeed, there is an unfailing wage for you. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:4
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
68:4
Surely, you (Prophet Muhammad) are of a great morality. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:5
فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ
68:5
You shall see and they will see - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:6
بِأَييِّكُمُ ٱلْمَفْتُونُ
68:6
which of you is the demented. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:7
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
68:7
Indeed, your Lord knows very well those who strayed from His Path, and those who are guided. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:8
فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
68:8
Therefore, do not obey those who belie, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:9
وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ
68:9
they wish you would compromise, then, they would compromise. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:10
وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ
68:10
And do not obey every mean swearer, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:11
هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّآءٍۭ بِنَمِيمٍ
68:11
the backbiter who goes about slandering, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:12
مَّنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
68:12
those who hinder good, the guilty aggressor, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:13
عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ
68:13
the crude of low character - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:14
أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ
68:14
because he has wealth and sons. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:15
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
68:15
When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'They are but fairytales of the ancients' - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:16
سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلْخُرْطُومِ
68:16
We shall mark him upon his nose! - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:17
إِنَّا بَلَوْنَـٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا۟ لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ
68:17
We have tried them as We tried the owners of the garden who had sworn that in the morning they would reap it, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:18
وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ
68:18
without adding to their swearing, (Allah willing, InshaAllah). - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:19
فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَآئِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ
68:19
Then, a visitation from your Lord came down upon it while they slept, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:20
فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ
68:20
and in the morning it was if the garden had been reaped. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:21
فَتَنَادَوْا۟ مُصْبِحِينَ
68:21
(Then) in the morning they called out to one another, saying: - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:22
أَنِ ٱغْدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰرِمِينَ
68:22
'Come out to your tillage if you want to reap' - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:23
فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ
68:23
And so they departed, whispering to one another: - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:24
أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌ
68:24
'No needy person shall set foot in it today' - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:25
وَغَدَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَـٰدِرِينَ
68:25
And they went out early, determined in their resolve. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:26
فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ
68:26
But when they saw it they said: 'We have surely gone astray. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:27
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
68:27
No, rather, we have been prevented' - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:28
قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ
68:28
(Whereupon) the best among them said: 'Did I not say to you to exalt (Allah)' - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:29
قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
68:29
'Exaltations to Allah, our Lord' they said, 'We were truly harmdoers' - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:30
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ
68:30
And they came blaming one another. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:31
قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـٰغِينَ
68:31
They said 'Woe to us, truly we were insolent' - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:32
عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَٰغِبُونَ
68:32
It may be that our Lord will give us better than it in exchange. To our Lord we humbly turn' - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:33
كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ
68:33
Such was their punishment. But the punishment of the Everlasting Life is much greater, if they but knew. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:34
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
68:34
Surely, the cautious shall have Gardens of Bliss with their Lord. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:35
أَفَنَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
68:35
What, shall We make those who are submissive like the wrongdoers? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:36
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
68:36
What is the matter with you then, how do you judge? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:37
أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَـٰبٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ
68:37
Or, have you a Book from which you study - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:38
إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ
68:38
surely in it you shall have whatever you choose! - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:39
أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَـٰنٌ عَلَيْنَا بَـٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ
68:39
Or, have you an oath from Us that stretches to the Day of Resurrection (if so) you shall surely have what you judge! - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:40
سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ
68:40
Ask them, which of them will guarantee that! - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:41
أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِينَ
68:41
Or, do they have associates? Then let them bring their associates, if what they say is true! - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:42
يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
68:42
On the Day when the leg shall be bared, and they are ordered to prostrate themselves, they will be unable. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:43
خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَـٰلِمُونَ
68:43
Their eyes will be humbled, and humiliation shall spread over them for they were already ordered to prostrate themselves when they were undiminished. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:44
فَذَرْنِى وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
68:44
Therefore, leave Me with he who belied this discourse. We will draw them on little by little from where they do not know. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:45
وَأُمْلِى لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِى مَتِينٌ
68:45
I shall respite them, My stratagem is firm. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:46
أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ
68:46
Or, do you ask them for a wage, so that they are burdened withdebt? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:47
أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
68:47
Or, is the Unseen with them, and they are writing it down! - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:48
فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ
68:48
So be patient with the judgement of your Lord and do not be like the Companion of the Whale (Jonah), when he called out choking inwardly. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:49
لَّوْلَآ أَن تَدَٰرَكَهُۥ نِعْمَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ لَنُبِذَ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ
68:49
Had the favor of his Lord not come upon him, he would have been blamed, cast upon the shore. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:50
فَٱجْتَبَـٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
68:50
But his Lord had chosen him and He placed him among the righteous. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:51
وَإِن يَكَادُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجْنُونٌ
68:51
When the unbelievers hear the Reminder, they nearly strike you down with their glances, and say: 'Surely, he is mad' - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
68:52
وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
68:52
But it is nothing other than a Reminder for all the worlds. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
