بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

68:1 نٓ ۚ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ
68:1 Nun By the pen and by that which they inscribe. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:2 مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ
68:2 Thou art nor, through the grace of thy Lord, mad. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:3 وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ
68:3 And verily thine shall be a hire unending." - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:4 وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
68:4 And verily thou art of a high and noble disposition. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:5 فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ
68:5 Anon thou wilt see and they will see: - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:6 بِأَييِّكُمُ ٱلْمَفْتُونُ
68:6 Which of you is afflicted with madness. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:7 إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
68:7 Verily thy Lord! He is the best Knower of him who strayeth from His path, and He is the best Knower of the guided one, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:8 فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
68:8 Wherefore obey not thou the beliers. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:9 وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ
68:9 Fain would they that thou shouldst be pliant, so that they will be pliant. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:10 وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ
68:10 And obey not: thou any swearer ignominous. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:11 هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّآءٍۭ بِنَمِيمٍ
68:11 A defamer, spreader abroad of slander. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:12 مَّنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
68:12 Hinderer of the good, trespasser; sinner. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:13 عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ
68:13 Gross, and therewithal ignoble- - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:14 أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ
68:14 Because he is owner of riches and children. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:15 إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
68:15 When Our revelations are rehearsed Unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:16 سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلْخُرْطُومِ
68:16 Anon We shall brand him on snout. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:17 إِنَّا بَلَوْنَـٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا۟ لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ
68:17 Verily We! We have proved them even as We proved the fellows of a garden when they swarethat they would surely reap it in the morning. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:18 وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ
68:18 And they made not the exception. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:19 فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَآئِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ
68:19 Wherefore an encircling visitation visited it even as they slept on. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:20 فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ
68:20 Then in the morning it became as though it had been reaped. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:21 فَتَنَادَوْا۟ مُصْبِحِينَ
68:21 Then they cried out Unto each other in the morning, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:22 أَنِ ٱغْدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰرِمِينَ
68:22 Saying: go out betimes to your tilth if ye would reap. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:23 فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ
68:23 So they went off speaking to each other in a low voice: - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:24 أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌ
68:24 Let there not enter upon you today any needy man. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:25 وَغَدَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَـٰدِرِينَ
68:25 And they went out betimes determined in purpose. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:26 فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ
68:26 Then when they beheld it, they said: verily we have strayed. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:27 بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
68:27 Aye! it is we who are deprived! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:28 قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ
68:28 The most moderate of them said: said I not Unto you, wherefore hallow him ye not! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:29 قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
68:29 They said: hallowed be Our Lord! verily we have been wrong- doers. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:30 فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ
68:30 Then they turned to each other reproaching - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:31 قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـٰغِينَ
68:31 They said: woe Unto us! verily we! we have been arrogant. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:32 عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَٰغِبُونَ
68:32 Belike our Lord may exchange for us better garden than this; verily we are Unto our Lord beseechers. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:33 كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ
68:33 Such is the torment. And the torment of the Hereafter is far greater; if they but knew. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:34 إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
68:34 Verily for the God-fearing, are with their Lord Gardens of Delight. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:35 أَفَنَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
68:35 Shall We then make the Muslims like the culprits? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:36 مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
68:36 What aileth you? How ill ye judge! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:37 أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَـٰبٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ
68:37 Is there with you a Book wherein ye study: - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:38 إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ
68:38 That therein is yours that which. ye may choose? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:39 أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَـٰنٌ عَلَيْنَا بَـٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ
68:39 Or have ye oaths from us reaching to the Day of Resurrection, that you shall be that which ye judge? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:40 سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ
68:40 Ask then, which of them will stand thereof a surety? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:41 أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِينَ
68:41 Have they associate gods? Then let them produce their associate gods if they say sooth! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:42 يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
68:42 Remember the Day whereon the shank shall be bared and they shall be called upon to Prostrate themselves, but they shall not be able. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:43 خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَـٰلِمُونَ
68:43 Downcast will be their looks; abjectness will overspread them. Surely they had been called upon to Prostrate themselves while yet they were whole. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:44 فَذَرْنِى وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
68:44 Let Me alone with him who belieth this discourse; step by step We lead them on when they perceive not. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:45 وَأُمْلِى لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِى مَتِينٌ
68:45 And I bear with them; verily My contrivance is sure. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:46 أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ
68:46 Askest thou a hire from them so that they are laden with debt? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:47 أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
68:47 Is with them the unseen, so that they write down? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:48 فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ
68:48 Be patient thou, then, with thy Lord's judgment, and be thou not like him of the fish, when he cried out while he was in anguish. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:49 لَّوْلَآ أَن تَدَٰرَكَهُۥ نِعْمَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ لَنُبِذَ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ
68:49 Had not grace from his Lord reached him, he had surely been cast into the wilderness in a plight. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:50 فَٱجْتَبَـٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
68:50 Then his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:51 وَإِن يَكَادُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجْنُونٌ
68:51 And those who disbelieve well-nigh cause thee to stumble with their looks when they hear the Admonition, and they say: verily he is mad. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)

68:52 وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
68:52 While it is naught but an admonition Unto the worlds. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
