بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

68:1 نٓ ۚ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ
68:1

Nun By the pen and by that which they inscribe.

68:2 مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ
68:2
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Thou art nor, through the grace of thy Lord, mad.

68:3 وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ
68:3
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
And verily thine shall be a hire unending."

68:4 وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
68:4
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
And verily thou art of a high and noble disposition.

68:5 فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ
68:5
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Anon thou wilt see and they will see:

68:6 بِأَييِّكُمُ ٱلْمَفْتُونُ
68:6
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Which of you is afflicted with madness.

68:7 إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
68:7
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Verily thy Lord! He is the best Knower of him who strayeth from His path, and He is the best Knower of the guided one,

68:8 فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
68:8
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Wherefore obey not thou the beliers.

68:9 وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ
68:9
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Fain would they that thou shouldst be pliant, so that they will be pliant.

68:10 وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ
68:10
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
And obey not: thou any swearer ignominous.

68:11 هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّآءٍۭ بِنَمِيمٍ
68:11
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
A defamer, spreader abroad of slander.

68:12 مَّنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
68:12
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Hinderer of the good, trespasser; sinner.

68:13 عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ
68:13
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Gross, and therewithal ignoble-

68:14 أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ
68:14
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Because he is owner of riches and children.

68:15 إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
68:15
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
When Our revelations are rehearsed Unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients.

68:16 سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلْخُرْطُومِ
68:16
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Anon We shall brand him on snout.

68:17 إِنَّا بَلَوْنَـٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا۟ لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ
68:17
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Verily We! We have proved them even as We proved the fellows of a garden when they swarethat they would surely reap it in the morning.

68:18 وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ

Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
And they made not the exception.

68:19 فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَآئِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ
68:19
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Wherefore an encircling visitation visited it even as they slept on.

68:20 فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ

Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Then in the morning it became as though it had been reaped.

68:21 فَتَنَادَوْا۟ مُصْبِحِينَ

Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Then they cried out Unto each other in the morning,

68:22 أَنِ ٱغْدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰرِمِينَ
68:22
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Saying: go out betimes to your tilth if ye would reap.

68:23 فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ

Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
So they went off speaking to each other in a low voice:

68:24 أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌ
68:24
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Let there not enter upon you today any needy man.

68:25 وَغَدَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَـٰدِرِينَ

Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
And they went out betimes determined in purpose.

68:26 فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ
68:26
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Then when they beheld it, they said: verily we have strayed.

68:27 بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ

Aye! it is we who are deprived!

68:28 قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ
68:28
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
The most moderate of them said: said I not Unto you, wherefore hallow him ye not!

68:29 قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
68:29
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
They said: hallowed be Our Lord! verily we have been wrong- doers.

68:30 فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ
68:30
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Then they turned to each other reproaching

68:31 قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـٰغِينَ
68:31
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
They said: woe Unto us! verily we! we have been arrogant.

68:32 عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَٰغِبُونَ
68:32
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Belike our Lord may exchange for us better garden than this; verily we are Unto our Lord beseechers.

68:33 كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ
68:33
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Such is the torment. And the torment of the Hereafter is far greater; if they but knew.

68:34 إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
68:34
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Verily for the God-fearing, are with their Lord Gardens of Delight.

68:35 أَفَنَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
68:35
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Shall We then make the Muslims like the culprits?

68:36 مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
68:36
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
What aileth you? How ill ye judge!

68:37 أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَـٰبٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ

Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Is there with you a Book wherein ye study:

68:38 إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ
68:38
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
That therein is yours that which. ye may choose?

68:39 أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَـٰنٌ عَلَيْنَا بَـٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ
68:39
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Or have ye oaths from us reaching to the Day of Resurrection, that you shall be that which ye judge?

68:40 سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ

Ask then, which of them will stand thereof a surety?

68:41 أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِينَ

Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Have they associate gods? Then let them produce their associate gods if they say sooth!

68:42 يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
68:42
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Remember the Day whereon the shank shall be bared and they shall be called upon to Prostrate themselves, but they shall not be able.

68:43 خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَـٰلِمُونَ
68:43
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Downcast will be their looks; abjectness will overspread them. Surely they had been called upon to Prostrate themselves while yet they were whole.

68:44 فَذَرْنِى وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Let Me alone with him who belieth this discourse; step by step We lead them on when they perceive not.

68:45 وَأُمْلِى لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِى مَتِينٌ

Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
And I bear with them; verily My contrivance is sure.

68:46 أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ
68:46
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Askest thou a hire from them so that they are laden with debt?

68:47 أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
68:47
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Is with them the unseen, so that they write down?

68:48 فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ

Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Be patient thou, then, with thy Lord's judgment, and be thou not like him of the fish, when he cried out while he was in anguish.

68:49 لَّوْلَآ أَن تَدَٰرَكَهُۥ نِعْمَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ لَنُبِذَ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ

Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Had not grace from his Lord reached him, he had surely been cast into the wilderness in a plight.

68:50 فَٱجْتَبَـٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
68:50
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
Then his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous.

68:51 وَإِن يَكَادُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجْنُونٌ
68:51
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
And those who disbelieve well-nigh cause thee to stumble with their looks when they hear the Admonition, and they say: verily he is mad.

68:52 وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
68:52
Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English) :
While it is naught but an admonition Unto the worlds.
