Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
70:1
سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ
70:1
A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen - Saheeh International (English)
70:2
لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌ
70:2
To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer. - Saheeh International (English)
70:3
مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ
70:3
[It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent. - Saheeh International (English)
70:4
تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ
70:4
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. - Saheeh International (English)
70:5
فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا
70:5
So be patient with gracious patience. - Saheeh International (English)
70:6
إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًا
70:6
Indeed, they see it [as] distant, - Saheeh International (English)
70:7
وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًا
70:7
But We see it [as] near. - Saheeh International (English)
70:8
يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ
70:8
On the Day the sky will be like murky oil, - Saheeh International (English)
70:9
وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ
70:9
And the mountains will be like wool, - Saheeh International (English)
70:10
وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا
70:10
And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, - Saheeh International (English)
70:11
يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ
70:11
They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children - Saheeh International (English)
70:12
وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَأَخِيهِ
70:12
And his wife and his brother - Saheeh International (English)
70:13
وَفَصِيلَتِهِ ٱلَّتِى تُـْٔوِيهِ
70:13
And his nearest kindred who shelter him - Saheeh International (English)
70:14
وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ
70:14
And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him. - Saheeh International (English)
70:15
كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ
70:15
No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell], - Saheeh International (English)
70:16
نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَىٰ
70:16
A remover of exteriors. - Saheeh International (English)
70:17
تَدْعُوا۟ مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
70:17
It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience] - Saheeh International (English)
70:18
وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰٓ
70:18
And collected [wealth] and hoarded. - Saheeh International (English)
70:19
۞ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا
70:19
Indeed, mankind was created anxious: - Saheeh International (English)
70:20
إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا
70:20
When evil touches him, impatient, - Saheeh International (English)
70:21
وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا
70:21
And when good touches him, withholding [of it], - Saheeh International (English)
70:22
إِلَّا ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ
70:22
Except the observers of prayer - - Saheeh International (English)
70:23
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآئِمُونَ
70:23
Those who are constant in their prayer - Saheeh International (English)
70:24
وَٱلَّذِينَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَّعْلُومٌ
70:24
And those within whose wealth is a known right - Saheeh International (English)
70:25
لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ
70:25
For the petitioner and the deprived - - Saheeh International (English)
70:26
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
70:26
And those who believe in the Day of Recompense - Saheeh International (English)
70:27
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ
70:27
And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord - - Saheeh International (English)
70:28
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ
70:28
Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe - - Saheeh International (English)
70:29
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَـٰفِظُونَ
70:29
And those who guard their private parts - Saheeh International (English)
70:30
إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ
70:30
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed - - Saheeh International (English)
70:31
فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ
70:31
But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors - - Saheeh International (English)
70:32
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ
70:32
And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive - Saheeh International (English)
70:33
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَـٰدَٰتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَ
70:33
And those who are in their testimonies upright - Saheeh International (English)
70:34
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ
70:34
And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer: - Saheeh International (English)
70:35
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ مُّكْرَمُونَ
70:35
They will be in gardens, honored. - Saheeh International (English)
70:36
فَمَالِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ
70:36
So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muhammad], - Saheeh International (English)
70:37
عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ
70:37
[To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups? - Saheeh International (English)
70:38
أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍ
70:38
Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure? - Saheeh International (English)
70:39
كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ
70:39
No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know. - Saheeh International (English)
70:40
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ وَٱلْمَغَـٰرِبِ إِنَّا لَقَـٰدِرُونَ
70:40
So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able - Saheeh International (English)
70:41
عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
70:41
To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone. - Saheeh International (English)
70:42
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ
70:42
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised - - Saheeh International (English)
70:43
يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ
70:43
The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening. - Saheeh International (English)
70:44
خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ
70:44
Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised. - Saheeh International (English)
