Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
77:1
وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا
77:1
By the loosed ones successively - A. J. Arberry (English)

فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا
77:2
storming tempestuously - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:3
وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا
77:3
by the scatterers scattering - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:4
فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا
77:4
and the severally severing - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:5
فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا
77:5
and those hurling a reminder - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:6
عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا
77:6
excusing or warning, - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:7
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ
77:7
surely that which you are promised is about to fall! - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:8
فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ
77:8
When the stars shall be extinguished, - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:9
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ
77:9
when heaven shall be split - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:10
وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ
77:10
when the mountains shall be scattered - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:11
وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ
77:11
and when the Messengers' time is set, - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:12
لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ
77:12
to what day shall they be delayed? - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:13
لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ
77:13
To the Day of Decision. - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:14
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ
77:14
And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:15
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
77:15
Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:16
أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
77:16
Did We not destroy the ancients, - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:17
ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
77:17
and then follow them with the later folk? - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:18
كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
77:18
So We serve the sinners. - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:19
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
77:19
Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:20
أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ
77:20
Did We not create you of a mean water, - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:21
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ
77:21
that We laid within a sure lodging - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:22
إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
77:22
till a known term decreed? - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:23
فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ
77:23
We determined; excellent determiners are We. - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:24
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
77:24
Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:25
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا
77:25
Made We not the earth to be a housing - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:26
أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا
77:26
for the living and for the dead? - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:27
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا
77:27
Set We not therein soaring mountains? Sated you with sweetest water? - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:28
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
77:28
Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! - A. J. Arberry (English)

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
77:29
Depart to that you cried was lies! - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:30
ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ
77:30
Depart to a triple-massing shadow - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:31
لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ
77:31
unshading against the blazing flame - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:32
إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ
77:32
that shoots sparks like dry faggots, - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:33
كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ
77:33
sparks like to golden herds. - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:34
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
77:34
Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! - A. J. Arberry (English)

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ
77:35
This is the day they shall not speak - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:36
وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ
77:36
neither be given leave, and excuse themselves. - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:37
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
77:37
Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! - A. J. Arberry (English)

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
77:38
'This is the Day of Decision; We have joined you with the ancients; - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:39
فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ
77:39
if you have a trick, try you now to trick Me!' - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:40
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
77:40
Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:41
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ
77:41
Truly the godfearing shall dwell amid shades and fountains, - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:42
وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
77:42
and such fruits as their hearts desire: - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:43
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
77:43
'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working.' - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:44
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
77:44
Even so do We recompense the good-doers. - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:45
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
77:45
Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! - A. J. Arberry (English)

كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ
77:46
'Eat and take your joy a little; you are sinners!' - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:47
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
77:47
Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! - A. J. Arberry (English)

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ
77:48
When it is said to them, 'Prostrate yourselves!' they prostrate not. - A. J. Arberry (English)
77:49
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
77:49

فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ
77:50
In what discourse after this will they believe? - A. J. Arberry (English)
