بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

79:1 وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًا
79:1 By those who drag forth to destruction, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:2 وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًا
79:2 By the meteors rushing, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:3 وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًا
79:3 By the lone stars floating, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:4 فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًا
79:4 By the angels hastening, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:5 فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًا
79:5 And those who govern the event, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:6 يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ
79:6 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:7 تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ
79:7 And the second followeth it, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:8 قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ
79:8 On that day hearts beat painfully - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:9 أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌ
79:9 While eyes are downcast - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:10 يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ
79:10 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:11 أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا نَّخِرَةً
79:11 Even after we are crumbled bones? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:12 قَالُوا۟ تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ
79:12 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:13 فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
79:13 Surely it will need but one shout, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:14 فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ
79:14 And lo! they will be awakened. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:15 هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
79:15 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:16 إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
79:16 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:17 ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
79:17 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:18 فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ
79:18 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:19 وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ
79:19 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:20 فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
79:20 And he showed him the tremendous token. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:21 فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ
79:21 But he denied and disobeyed, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:22 ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ
79:22 Then turned he away in haste, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:23 فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ
79:23 Then gathered he and summoned - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:24 فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
79:24 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:25 فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ
79:25 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:26 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ
79:26 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:27 ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ بَنَىٰهَا
79:27 Are ye the harder to create, or is the heaven that He built? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:28 رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا
79:28 He raised the height thereof and ordered it; - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:29 وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا
79:29 And He made dark the night thereof, and He brought forth the morn thereof. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:30 وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ
79:30 And after that He spread the earth, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:31 أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا
79:31 And produced therefrom the water thereof and the pasture thereof, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:32 وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا
79:32 And He made fast the hills, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:33 مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ
79:33 A provision for you and for your cattle. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:34 فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
79:34 But when the great disaster cometh, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:35 يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ
79:35 The day when man will call to mind his (whole) endeavour, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:36 وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ
79:36 And hell will stand forth visible to him who seeth, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:37 فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ
79:37 Then, as for him who rebelled - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:38 وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
79:38 And chose the life of the world, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:39 فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
79:39 Lo! hell will be his home. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:40 وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ
79:40 But as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained his soul from lust, - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:41 فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
79:41 Lo! the Garden will be his home. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:42 يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا
79:42 They ask thee of the Hour: when will it come to port? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:43 فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ
79:43 Why (ask they)? What hast thou to tell thereof? - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:44 إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ
79:44 Unto thy Lord belongeth (knowledge of) the term thereof. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:45 إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا
79:45 Thou art but a warner unto him who feareth it. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)

79:46 كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا
79:46 On the day when they behold it, it will be as if they had but tarried for an evening or the morn thereof. - Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall (English)
