بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
79:1
وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًا
79:1
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:2
وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًا
79:2
And those who undo the bonds gently, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:3
وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًا
79:3
And those who glide swimmingly, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:4
فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًا
79:4
Then outpace the others swiftly - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:5
فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًا
79:5
And direct affairs by command, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:6
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ
79:6
The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:7
تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ
79:7
Followed by the second blast, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:8
قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ
79:8
Hearts will pound loudly on that day, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:9
أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌ
79:9
Eyes be lowered in submission. - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:10
يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ
79:10
They say: "Shall we go back to our original state - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:11
أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا نَّخِرَةً
79:11
After having turned to carious bones?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:12
قَالُوا۟ تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ
79:12
They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:13
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
79:13
It will only be a single blast, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:14
فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ
79:14
And they will wake up suddenly. - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:15
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
79:15
Has the story of Moses come to you - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:16
إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
79:16
When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:17
ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
79:17
"Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:18
فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ
79:18
And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:19
وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ
79:19
Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:20
فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
79:20
So he showed him the greater sign; - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:21
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ
79:21
But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:22
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ
79:22
Then he turned away, deliberating, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:23
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ
79:23
And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:24
فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
79:24
Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:25
فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ
79:25
So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:26
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ
79:26
Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:27
ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ بَنَىٰهَا
79:27
Are you more difficult to create or the heavens? He built it, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:28
رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا
79:28
Raised it high, proportioned it, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:29
وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا
79:29
Gave darkness to its night, and brightness to its day; - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:30
وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ
79:30
And afterwards spread out the earth. - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:31
أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا
79:31
He brought out its water and its pastures from it, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:32
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا
79:32
And stabilized the mountains - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:33
مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ
79:33
As convenience for you and your cattle. - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:34
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
79:34
When the great calamity comes, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:35
يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ
79:35
The day when man remembers all that he had done, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:36
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ
79:36
And Hell made visible to him who can see, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:37
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ
79:37
Then he who had been rebellious - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:38
وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
79:38
And who preferred the life of the world, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:39
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
79:39
Will surely have Hell for his abode. - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:40
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ
79:40
But he who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained his self from vain desires, - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:41
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
79:41
Will surely have Paradise for abode. - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:42
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا
79:42
They ask you: "When will the Hour be? When is its time fixed?" - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:43
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ
79:43
What do you have to do with explaining it? - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:44
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ
79:44
The extent of its knowledge goes to your Lord. - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:45
إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا
79:45
Your duty is only to warn him who fears it. - Ahmed Ali (English)
79:46
كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا
79:46
The day they see it, it will seem they had stayed in the world but only an evening or its turning into dawn. - Ahmed Ali (English)
