بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
78:1
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
78:1
What do they question each other about! - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:2
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
78:2
About the Great News - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:3
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
78:3
whereupon they are at variance? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:4
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:4
Indeed, they shall know! - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:5
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:5
Again, indeed, they shall know! - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:6
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا
78:6
Have We not made the earth as a cradle - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:7
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
78:7
and the mountains as pegs? - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
78:8
And We created you in pairs, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
78:9
and We made your sleep a rest, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
78:10
and We made the night a mantle, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
78:11
and We made the day for a livelihood. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
78:12
And We built above you seven strong ones, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
78:13
and placed in them a blazing lamp - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:14
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
78:14
and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
78:15
that We may bring forth with it grain, plants - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
78:16
and luxuriant gardens. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:17
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
78:17
Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:18
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
78:18
the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
78:19
and heaven is opened, having gates, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
78:20
and the mountains move, and vaporize. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:21
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
78:21
Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
78:22
a return for the insolent, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
78:23
there, they shall live for ages, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:24
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78:24
tasting neither coolness nor any drink - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:25
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
78:25
except boiling water and pus - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:26
جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
78:26
for a suitable recompense. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:27
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
78:27
Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:28
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
78:28
and they absolutely belied Our verses, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:29
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا
78:29
and everything We have numbered in a Book. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:30
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
78:30
'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:31
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
78:31
But, for the cautious a place of prosperity, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:32
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا
78:32
and gardens and vineyards, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
78:33
curvaceous (virgins), of equal age - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:34
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
78:34
and an overflowing cup. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:35
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
78:35
There, they shall neither hear idle talk, nor yet any falsehood, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:36
جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
78:36
a recompense from your Lord, a gift, a reckoning, - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:37
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
78:37
the Lord of the heavens and earth, and all that is between them, the Merciful, of whom they are unable to speak. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
78:38
On that Day, when the Spirit (Gabriel) and the angels stand in ranks they shall not speak, except he to whom the Merciful has given permission, and sayswhat is right. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:39
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
78:39
That is the Day, the truth, so whosoever wills takes a way to his Lord. - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
78:40
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
78:40
Indeed, We have forewarned you of an imminent punishment, the Day when the person will look upon his works and the unbelievers will say: 'Would that I were dust' - Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish (English)
